Except that statement is outdated as changes have been made since then that would make zapping more inefficient and unprofitable

Do tell. I don't believe that post from SC was that old. I also thought it was completely on point. Zapping is still an inefficient way to get loot (Its crazy expensive to do and also would rather get zapped than raided any day)And his advice was spot on the best thing to say to be done by anyone that is upset they got zapped.

Oh my bad, I thought these forums were legit. Not full of trolls....guess I was wrong.

Anyway, the idea is completely reasonable. I do revenge and I also am one of the ones that use this strategy. I have stole loads of de using it. It is way too easy and is a little unfair for the defender when I just drop lightning on his de storage that he went out of the way to defend harder than any other resource he has.

Oh and if you are tired of seeing this idea then how about just going somewhere else.

He wasn't trolling, this idea as been mentioned (probably) hundreds of times, it gets old.

I did tell, try reading what I said again. They increase de at lower levels thus making it more profitable and efficient to raid lower ths with other spells rather than zap higher levels. They have also made several changes like this in the past that would make zapping more inefficient, and it wouldn't be surprising if they do more, like the first suggestion in the OP. That statement was refuted by SC's actions as they went on to make it more inefficient, what is being asked is to take it another step forward.
What was said in that quote was more consolation than advice, everyone knows revenge is a broken mechanic.
