Make the dps higher to 78 and increase the range . Maybe archer towers have double damage on it or this could lead to a new type of tower with longer rage than mortar....

I suggest high training cost because it could be used to overpower base but must be used wisely.

I think you play too much Kingdom Rush :P
The problem with these is that you can very easily drop them so that only one defence can reach them, and they can pick off that defence without being attacked by any of the others. Also makes getting 50% much easier, place one or two of these in a corner and they could snipe a LOT of buildings. No matter how weak you make the stats, that could always be a problem.
That said, I do like the idea of some long-ranged troops. But I'd go for something a bit more substantial and less extreme...5 spaces, health of two archers, damage of 4 archers, 6 tile range, or something like that.
