    Waste of time or not?

Hey guys. I'm a lvl 39 TH5. For the last week I'd say all I have been doing is upgrading my collectors and mines up to max for this TH which is lvl10. I have only a week to go and I should be onto TH 6. Did I waste my time doing this? Since I didn't really have anything else to do I just have been raiding/looting a ton just to work on a few of the achievements. Which I'm thinking in the future should pay off to get some gems and then my 4th builder.

What at do you guys think?

No upgrade in this game is a waste, only a matter of priority, which depend of your play style.

Maxing things out for any town hall is not a waste of time, people that max things before upgrading to the next town hall level should be commended on their bases because they have the patience to do it. Those collectors will definitely help you out, especially because the next level of collectors for you is at town hall 7, meaning one less thing to worry about.

    No, not at all.

You will feel the same way about walls but, don't deter, stand tall!

Glad to hear the positive feedback! The biggest reason for maxing them out was I figured, even though the advantage was small, was with them having more hitpoints it would help the defense of my base. Besides the obvious reasons of more loot.

All decisions like this come down to priorities, and what you find fun about the game/what your goals are.

I guess my goals is to have the very best base that I can have. Then after being in a clan with some friends of mine that were all roughly the same level as me and same TH, they just jumped to 6 instead of finishing out TH5. Seeing all the different things they were working on it made me feel like I was falling behind.

Even though the amount of gold/elixir adds up.I honestly think that if you're able to keep all you're builders busy,it's kind of"unnecessary"but I wouldn't call it a waste of time.Like the above answers,it depends on your play style.

I guess I forgot to describe as well that I'm not worried about getting trophys. I just want to be successful in clan wars and helping donate etc. I find that the most entertaining. Also once I learn a lot more and thinking once I get to TH8 then start my own clan.

All you have to do is look back at an event like the last couple weeks to realize that upgraded mines/collectors are a great thing to have. Plus, I'm sure all of the people who will raid you will also appreciate your upgraded mines/collectors. Maybe even enough to leave your storages alone. If everyone upgraded their mines/collectors fully, I think we'd rarely have loot problems.

I'm a big fan of maxing out your TH level until you have all idle builders. In my case, my builders only have enough work to finish most of my mine/collector level 12 upgrades before TH9 finishes. I still had dark troop upgrades outstanding, but all of my walls and elixir troops/spells were done. If I waited for dark troops to finish, the builders would be idle for about a month. And, who knows what those builders do when they're sitting around in those huts for too long? They might start chasing the townspeople around town or decide to build a bar on the corner of the map and never work again.
