There would be less crimes in the US if civilians werent armed.

Right because criminals follow the law and would never be able to get their hands on guns illegally. Then you woke up and had to live in the real world.

When guns are outlawed only outlaws have guns. Police have no legal obligation to save your life, thats been established by the Supreme Court. Ive carried a gun on my person for 6 years, care
to take a guess how many innocent people were hurt by it?

i dont see how provoking extremists can be labeled as "freedom of speech" ..

any how , im not trying to pick a fight here , those nutjobs are hated by both sides of the coin , muslims and non muslims , ever since it happened and im seeing muslims bashed on every social media site .


just wanted to say please keep in mind that those extremists dont represent us , couple rotten apples doesnt mean the whole basket is rotten

we feel you guys , in the middle east we are getting terrorist attacks every week , many families have lost a son , a brother or a father and we know how it hurts

I've traveled much of Europe and understand why you might think this way. I will tell you, however, that there are a lot of factors in the US which would suggest you are wrong. For one thing, seizing civilians' firearms is a political non-starter here as our right to possess them is guaranteed by our Constitution. Assuming arguendo, even if you did, you would create a situation where only the criminals had firearms.

The U.S. population is much more decentralized than European populations. That means police response times are going to be much slower, especially in suburban and rural areas. I don't personally own a firearm, but I appreciate the fact that I could go buy one today if I wanted to.

All that said, if the French could possess firearms, it is probable considering how many death threats this staff received that some of them would be carrying concealed weapons which would have possibly averted this tragedy.

I hope that Europe doesn't use this incident as license to 'crack down' on otherwise peaceful Muslim populations.

Because in Western European and American culture, we have a deep-seeded concept of liberty, which has at its core the right to express oneself without the fear of reprisal from anyone over a difference of opinion. The most offensive and hateful speech is that which demands the greatest protection because it demonstrates the extent of our liberty.

I hate that you even feel the need to have to explain this to non-Muslims. Unfortunately, the Western media portrays Muslims very negatively. Sometimes, Muslims portray themselves negatively (for example, killing 50 of their own in riots about that movie a couple years back).

If Muslims want to exist in western countries, they need to learn to coexist as members of those countries, which means respecting those countries courts and laws. Progress is being made, but I'm afraid these sort of events will set things back.
