I speak both English and Spanish! Too bad SC doesn't have any position or career in helping or something along these lines in Spanish...

While I agree on Halloween (I do not celebrate it due to religious and cultural reasons), I still find it funny in the farm. That's how I take it. Rather than feeling offended for something I do not celebrate, I look at the funny bits. And it has been gaining acceptance in Mexico (My home country), but, not everyone there is like me, anyways.

I just got 1 year of playing the game, which started to help out my mother, because she didn't really understood how the game worked (she skipped the tutorials)

One possible reason (from the top of my head) could be that since the maps are only used in the Town expansions, they have started to become obsolete for players who have expanded all the areas. However, that's just one possible reason. We need more time to look into it.

Reading your post got me to thinking and since I tend to talk too much (the psych term word salad applies here) I will just ramble my thoughts here and then tie them together

    1. Several people complained that we didn't get enough new Christmas /winter decorations and silently I said, "like what?" Because I couldn't think of a lot that weren't covered. And the New Years ones were kind of lame also but again I couldn't think of be new ones myself.

    2. After reading this and realizing again that many people across the globe know about these holidays that we celebrate in the US, but either don't celebrate them or more likely have their own celebrations that are just as important to them

And third. My husbands family is so large that to get together for everyone's birthday is impossible. Therefore we picked the separate seasons and combined the birthdays. We had winter birthdays, summer birthdays, October birthdays and I think some that were in spring.

So why not do that in Hayday. We can do what we do in winter but add optional items for holidays that other countries or cultures celebrate. While I doubt they would include religious holidays like Hanukkah, why not cinco de mayo. ( not sure if I spelled that right, but my lack of knowledge about that holiday shows my point.) Is there a decoration used for this holiday (I know they have parties around here but I am pretty clueless about the whole holiday). If a particular decoration or symbol is included in the list, it could be labeled for the holiday and anyone who is as clueless as I am could google it. We could all learn more about each other and that's always a good thing.

I know from the link that midsummer is a big holiday in Finland. So why not include a reference to it. What about Eastern holidays? Etc. Well that's all I have right now.

I would love to see more holidays from around the world, or even versions of "traditional" holidays like Easter and Christmas, for example: most country celebrate the Christmas on snow. But what about those hot country that don't see snow ever (like Brazil? It's where I live). We don't have different holidays, the only one different I can think of is Carnaval, but we have a lot of national and traditional "parties", like Bumba Meu Boi (popular Brazilian folklore, mainly commemorated on northeast of Brazil), festas juninas (June festivities, I believe there are countries in Europe and North America that do it too, but not exactly the same way as us. I may be wrong), Semana Farroupilha (event to remember the Revolução Farroupilha, also known as Ragamuffin War, which began in the state Rio Grade do Sul, on southern Brazil), and so many others.

I would certainly like to see those "details" from other cultures around the world, it's a perfect opportunity to know them and I think most of them would be funny on the animals. Not to mention it would feel more welcoming to those who are from other countries or even cultures.

    Change the Store?

I really like where this thread is going. Imagine if the store was filled with symbols of celebration from cultures around the world instead of golden pigs, outhouses and topiary? Which symbols? Who better to make suggestions than Hay Day's global farmers? Google always seems to hit the nail on the head with their celebratory doodles. Maybe we can steal some ideas from them. I personally would hope to avoid religious and political symbols.

Now that I think about it, a change to the store is a pretty good idea. If you make some decorations obsolete, they become status symbols, which can then be offered in the future as a sought-after prize. In addition, SC could probable generate some more revenue by charging a diamond or two for some of the more prized new objects. Given how fantastically ornate some of the farms are now, having new raw materials to work with could keep those high-level farmers interested in the game. Maybe we should ask Nick to "look into it". If the store was to be redesigned, I'd like to see axes and saws sold there. Charge whatever you want for them; just make them available.

    thanks for listening.

The challenge there becomes how do you please everyone? How do you ensure no culture is overlooked? I think that would be an almost impossible task.

However, you may recall that last ANZAC Day, a commemoration only held in New Zealand, Australia and Turkey, some of us used our Number 8 Wire skills and used existing decorations to display ANZAC services on our farms. Perky, bless her little, cotton socks, took up the theme on her farm and started a thread in Off-topic. This resulted in players world-wide learning about ANZAC Day and why it is important to us. Perky has wonderful Veteran's Day dioramas on her farm as well.

This could be a fun challenge for people of all cultures, For example, Chinese New Year and the Indian Diwali are festivals known in many countries, perhaps Chinese and Indian players could decorate their farms, change their farm names to something suitable and display their ingenuity with the deco items we have, and start a thread on Off-Topic to discuss these celebrations?

Then why not just create some HayDay exclusive holidays? HD birthday and Town birthday surely are good candidates (of course they need more fancy name). In The Sims series the little people speaks an unique language (simlish), which is a perfect way of not making any player in any part of the world feeling excluded. The approach is so successful it's almost a "culture" itself. We definitely can put our own nationality aside and be united as HayDayer

    1. I do not wear cotton socks in winter, Glade. I am MUCH too cold-natured for that. I wear only wool socks, made of the warmest NZ wool (No, really -- these are awesome hiking socks)

    2. Here's the ANZAC thread - and I would give y'all Non-Aussies/Kiwis a heads up that this spring is the centennial, so that will be a BIG DEAL

    3. If I can find some examples of Diwali celebrations, that would be a cool fun thing to do on the farm. I am TRYING to win more bugs, gnomes, butterflies, caterpillars and snails. Underattended celebrations are just ... so.... SAD!

Perky, I swear if I could figure out how to knit socks, I'd make you the warmest most colorful pair I could. But right now hats and scarves are about the best I can do. I just did a blue hat for Katie that has a stripe the exact color of our Hayday blue hat! I have a ball of the orangest Orange I could fine to make a tiggerific one just for me! But socks are above my skill level,

Glad we are all feeling warm and fuzzy

I'm glad we are all feeling warm and fuzzy here, but the fact that things are still broken, its the middle of the week and only one half hearted response from "the powers that be" on our concerns doesnt help very much.

I Love hayday but not the management so much.
