Exposed to it??!! I think if some of the parents look closer they will find their dear sweet child is dishing out some of it.

Far more than most parents will be willing to admit. I have four of my own and have to acknowledge that two of them need more guidance than the others. This parenting thing is tough. They should just pass a law that says being mean isn't ok so I wouldn't have to worry.

I (37) have three sub-13 year olds that play. I keep them in clan so I can protect them when possible and explain/guide them when they are exposed to the dark side of humanity. Along those same lines I keep their facebook passwords handy and log in to their accounts regularly. There is nothing I can do to keep them away from it except put them in a cave. So I do the best I can with reporting tools that are available, blocking friend requests from unknown people or known problems, try to explain to them that people aren't always good and make sure they see their father's wrath when it is prudent for it to rain down upon whatever has beset them.

The way I see it, it is not SC's place to protect them. They have reporting mechanisms and I can polish my boots on the south facing end of any north bound jerk that makes does make it into our clan. Again, removing individual messages from clan chat might be worth looking into though. Seems simple enough to implement.

FWIW, they also see me quick to apologize and admit when I do wrong, and they also see me stand by and let them learn from their own mistakes whenever I think it is safe. They need to learn to hold their own umbrella too so to speak.

I like the idea of Leaders having some more specific authorities and I think elders have way too much power. Elder should mean simply a seasoned member of the clan but no powers to make changes until Co-Leader then it's up to the leader who can earn that spot. Having all that power in three different levels just doesn't make sense.

13+ is news to me. They've had it on their tablets for a year now and I never knew that. Honestly it's not that bad. This is our first encounter with an issue. We've dealt with the language, which is not an age issue-it's a respect issue, in the global chat and other clans he was in previously. Sadly you are correct, that is to be expected. I am 33 and do not appreciate the language myself and I know they will be exposed to it in other areas. My kids aren't on FB so that's not an issue for us at this time. My issue is that my son created his own clan to try to get away from some of those problems and I do think it is Supercell's responsibility to maintain order and demand respectfulness to the best of their ability. Obviously they can't control people but there are many forums and games where people can be banned for not following the rules. It's simple. Even the clans have their own rules that you can get kicked out for not following but you can't keep them out if necessary and I don't think that's right. No one no matter what age should have to deal with that.

We made a clan for my oldest son and put his younger brother in it. So far all of the people have been fine and I know others will show up but we shouldn't be helpless to their endless barrage of harassment. Supercell should have some kind of remedy for this. My son should have some kind of say over who is in his clan and who is not on a more permanent basis than 24 hours. These trolls will never learn anything if they're allowed to just keep doing it over and over and over. I know we would only be two players to quit but I can and will protect my children to the best of my ability and if that means not playing the game then so be it. Sad thing is that shouldn't have to be our only option. It can be a perfectly "safe" game for kids most of the time. The game isn't the problem, it's a few of the players and that can be dealt with. They may change their name and come back over and over but at least there could be something in place to at least try and make them have to work a little harder to be mean.

o it is their responsibility. closing loopholes is their responsibility. u cant just make a game tag in 13+ and then forget about it. if u say 13+ then u try to make it as friendly to 13 yr as possible or u tag the age wrong. if i can see margin of improving and many can then sure developers can too. so hell yes its their responsibility as much as ours. responsibility includes finding and closing loopholes. actually its should b 1st priority to make it as friendly to kids as possible.
Reporting a loophole is our responsibility. but we cannot fix it. so what the guy mentioned in this post is "reporting". so will see what happens
