ATTACK PLANNING - Clan Wars - Better teamwork and communication for clan wars

My clan has been chatting about expanding the clan war preparation tools to help make the Clan Wars easier to plan for which will therefore make it easier for teamwork, using strategy, and all around making the Clan Wars more competitive.

    Attack Planning

So our clan wants to be more strategic on who we decide to use our attacks on to try and maximize the amount of stars we can earn. Every person in our clan is at a different level and feels comfortable using their own attack strategy. They also can usually tell which bases they feel most comfortable attacking to ensure the maximum amount of stars.

The problem is that not everyone else in the clan is aware of every one else's attack ability, strategy, and know which bases they want to attack in the war. Of course, we could use the chat to talk about it, but it's ineffective because not all members are online at the same time and there is no visual record for people to refer to when scouting out bases.

Our thought has been to have a visual flagging system that allows members to flag a base that they would like to attack in the war and that it would be visually represented on the war map. This would allow members to scout bases and plan out attacks and then let everyone else in the clan know that they plan on attacking this base. Specifically, our clan would use this to allow our weaker members to pick out bases first and then let our stronger members pick up bases afterwards, allowing us to use strategy in who we decide to attack and try to maximize the number of stars we earn.

    Visuals:

Each member has 2 attacks to use in the wars. So they should be able to flag 2 different bases acknowledging that they have scouted and want to attack 2 different bases. So members would start out with 2 flags to use. These 2 flags would be represented something like this....

    Attachment 84194

Users can then drag their flag on top of a base that they would like to flag as one of the bases they would like to attack. The name of the member could be placed inside the flag, or maybe to the right of the flag, so other members can see who it was that picked out this base. That could look something like this...

    Attachment 84195

As other members flag bases, they can also be placed on the map in a different color. That way, I can go through and see which bases have been flagged once or twice or have not been flagged at all. This could look something like this (with member names)...

    Attachment 84196

The flagging system would allow us to work better as a team in order to prepare and scout out attacks on the war map. Currently, it's hard to work as a team in the clan because it's extremely difficult to know and remember which base each member in the clan wants to attack.

This flagging system would increase communication and allow clans to better prepare for the Clan Wars. Clan team work would increase drastically and open the doors to many new strategic planning when doing Clan Wars.

Please consider this idea as it could really help increase the productivity and competitiveness in the Clan Wars. I'm also open to feedback and other ideas that could branch from this or even make this idea better.

    I like this idea.
This would also be useful when you have an international clan, as you can't always catch a person online to coordinate which one to take on. This would be a nice step forward.

I like the idea but can't see it being implemented.

You could always use a separate chat function or basic website to fulfil this need if you think it would be of benefit to your clan.

I've thought about building a website with WordPress for our clan but I would have no idea how to implement something like this on the website. Also, I'm afraid of doing it through a website would decrease the use of the tool for our clan since it wouldn't be directly in the game. On top of that, it wouldn't be available for anyone else in other clans to use. I feel it would be best used if everyone had access to a tool like this.

Agreed. This needs to be handled outside the game. SC doesn't need to do this.

Sorry. I would disagree. Placing functionality outside the game would limit it to a specific clan instead of being available to everyone.

By adding it in the game, it's giving a more organized method for clans to prepare for wars - strategically. The clan chat is so limited that it isn't enough. Thinking about any other strategy games that you play with a team of people, you have a much more efficient way to communicate.

    Just a thought.

This seems very similar to the 'calling dibs' idea I posted, and 'paint targets' idea someone else had. Same ideas, different names. Was thinking more of using barbarian swords stabbed on the map next to the base (same swords that clash back and forth when there is an attack), with an optional short message on it. That way I can say, "Can easily take with dragons" and another stabs thier marker on it, saying "I call dibs if he doesn't at least 1 star!", while another says, " No wait, let me attack them first." They will be stacked in order up to 2-3 long, allowing people to put notes on the map. There will be a button on the menu of the selected base, like there is a scout, attack, and replay buttons now on the menu.

Actually, if there is no limit on dagger/swords for the map, someone can put several notes down for some bases. You'll have to pull your first note before making a new one, out of sake of simplicity and keeping things from getting spamy

Yes tools like this are missing. Since clan wars is still so new, I would expect one of the next updates to just focus on enhancing the experienece. This would be on my short list of things I want to see.
Leader of clan Ironclads. We are always looking for new members. We value camaraderie, teamwork, and maturity. We war once a week thanks to the Opt In/Out feature that gives players choice! Chat is kept clean and respectful. Come by and say hi!

I really like the idea of adding the note capability too. That way when you "call dibs", you can have an explanation of why or what your plan is and people can comment or make suggestions or helpful hints or whatever. Very nice idea. I like it.

A sword, like you said, might make more sense instead of a "flag" too.
