Here is another email from SC that mentions the feature. Unlike the one from SuperSteve this one has had regular follow up ever since it came out last April, the most recent being early December. The follow up has been on the entire list, not specific to Opt in/out so since publishing it they have been working through it in order of priority so some is done and some is not yet. Whether it is in the next update depends a lot on where they rate its priority compared to what else is left on the list.

In all honesty, I do not think it is a guarantee of anything. (as much as I would like to say otherwise).

My own feeling is that in the end all of this is just info for us to read that can be interpreted how one wants to be really says nothing. I have no sure idea what is going to happen, only my own personal interpretation.

Yea. The only things guaranteed in that post are that items NOT on the list, won't be in the next patch. Items on the list . . . maybe/maybe-not. Still gives some point of reference directly from SC when people get to demanding answers.

It is very hard to speculate on what they will or will not do. Overall I am happy with the direction the development team has gone with the game and support them. This is just one feature I hope and pray they support us with so my clan can war again.
