- The Spell Mage is the only troop capable of freezing air troops.
- Lightning Strikes deal double damage to PEKKAs, dealing 400 damage in total.

Pros:
- In Defensive Mode, the Spell Mage is extremely effective at raging up powerful defensive buildings such as inferno towers and X-Bows.
- The Spell Mage is extremely effective at taking out PEKKAs. Not only because they deal 400 damage to it, but also because they can rage up Hidden Teslas, dealing even more damage to PEKKAs.
- The Spell Mage is also effective at healing multiple buildings at once. Unlike the healer, only healing single structures at once.
- The Lightning Strike is capable of one-shotting Tier 1 Troops, and even Wizards.
Cons:
- If a Rage Potion is used on smaller troops, then it is not being used to its best potential.
- The Healing Potion is also cancelled by the Inferno Tower, rendering it useless against them.
- The Spell Mage has very low hitpoints, and can be 1-Shot by Level 7+ Mortar Shells.
- The Spring Traps are capable of taking out the Spell Mage
Strategies which could arise from the release of this new troop:
GoSWiPe - Golems, Spell Mages, Wizards, PEKKAs - To help PEKKAs and other troops to jump over walls to get to the townhall, or to help freeze powerful defenses such as Inferno Towers and X-Bows.
SpellDragons - Spell Mages + Dragons - To help support the Dragons via Rage Potions, Healing Potions, as well as freezing air defenses.
