Before the ability to remove selected troops was introduced, the only way get rid of unwanted troops was to dump the entire CC in a goblin village.

So let's say I requested balloons only. Someone puts in 5 archers (arg) and someone else fills it with balloons. Under the old system, I would have to either raid with the 5 archers or dump the entire CC.

With the new system, I can dump those 5 archers and keep the balloons and then after 20 minutes request that someone fill the space with one balloon.

As others have said, without a cool down, people would just spam CC with gobs for XP.

That isn't entirely true. The cc troops came out in a certain order and this could be exploited. Say you wanted wizards and had a 20 spot cc, person A gives you 4 wiz totally 16 troops but wiz 5 isn't ready yet. person B gives you 4 archers. Now your ♥♥♥♥♥♥. but there is and was always a solution.

Go to the goblins and place your cc, once the 4 archers come out quickly quit the battle, notice the archers are gone but the wiz are still there. I did that many times. sure it was pokey and hard to time, but it worked.

I'm not so sure about the whole dumping cc troops option. Sure, everyone wants to get what they asked for, but it is a donation, a free bee. I get uber-♥♥♥♥♥♥ if people dump the troops I give them. It is pretty disrespectful to dump troops. In the perfect clan, we would all be able to donate top level troops and we would always get what we want, but that isn't ever going to be the case. we have many different people at many different levels. If we act humane to each other and help each other out people will learn how the system works. teach people, don't get ♥♥♥♥♥♥. That th4 that gave you L2 gobs instead of the L6 loons that you wanted will be able to fill your request someday. He probably just doesn't get the etiquette. Be nice and explain it before you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥. If someone has a history after being told NICELY many times, it might be time for more drastic measures because that person clearly doesn't play well with others.

I stand corrected. Regardless, the new way sounds much easier.

Nine times out of 10 (outside of war requests) I'm not fussy about what's put in my CC. If I say "defense please" and someone puts in barbs, I'll mention that it's not a big deal to me but others might not consider barbs to be defensive troops.

That other one time out of 10 when I make a request for specific troop(s), I have a reason for wanting only those troop(s) so I get annoyed when someone fills up spots with a wrong troop. I try to be nice about it, but I've got no qualms about dumping them in that situation ... I give clanmates plenty of opportunities to donate whatever they want.
