I finally made it to Champion as a TH9!
It took me about a week and a half, starting from Gold 2. I Barched to ~2400 (level 5 Barch), then switched to Balloonion. On the second day, I hit Master 3 and then I switched to Quatro-Lavaloonion.
I was 2-3 starring other TH9s, but struggling against TH10s. Infernos were absolutely shutting my attacks down. This resulted in a lot of lost attacks. I was also getting 2-3 starred on every defense, even with my TH out. I was losing lots of DE and lots of trophies. The struggle was real.
Once I hit Master 1, I was having an extremely hard time finding other TH9s. I had to switch back to regular Balloonion and go for 1 star wins against TH10s. I had never done this before, so it was a learning process for me. I lost lots and lots of attacks. I felt like I hit a brick wall at 3,000 trophies. I'd win like 4 attacks, then I'd lose 1 and be right back where I started.
Fast forward a few days of struggling. I hit a winning streak and I gained about 150 trophies. I was also getting my TH sniped for -1 trophy quite often, which helped a lot. I was extremely close to Champion, and I was very careful when choosing my targets. Miraculously, I found a TH7 that I 3 starred for 17 trophies, and the attack that put me into Champion was a 15 trophy 3 star on a TH8! Needless to say, I got very lucky.
Now that I'm up here in Champion, I don't want to leave. With all the work it took to get this shiny red badge, I might as well take some time to enjoy it and see if I can go a little higher!
Yeah, it feels good.
