Thread: Clan War Tournament [ Extended ]

However, I think a fast pace would be better, most easily solved by having only one prep day at the beginning and having all war castle troops remain the same throughout the tournament.
    5. So that the clans remain well matched, regardless of whether or not there is a single prep day, upgrades started after the first battle day of the tournament should probably not change the tournament village. this is to prevent clans from entering into easier tournaments, then gemming all their defenses to ensure victory
    6. Obviously, the clan members in the tournament will not be able to change between tiers. This is also to prevent 'beating the system' by by not allowing the best players to leave for matchmaking and return to fight.
    7. The size and frequency of the tournaments are something that need to be ironed out. My idea is to model both of these after the existing League interface.
      • To provide enough time to build a large enough pool, I would propose that tournaments start once a week, or every other week, with an entire day devoted to matchmaking. I realize that people like to complain about having to wait for something before it's even an actual thing that they may have to wait for, but having a set time for starting tournaments would prevent loss of interest in Clan Wars, and is the only way to have any chance of accurate matchmaking on this large of a scale.
      • It could happen that the start of new tournaments would not match-up with the end of other ones. This would depend on how large the tournament is, and how prep days are handled (number 4, above).
      • The tournament size is something to be figured out. There could only be one size (16 clans seems like the favorite number), or it could be based upon clan size (larger clans have larger tournaments), or it could be the leader's decision (when joining the tournament que, there is an option of how large a tournament you want to enter). If there are different sized tournaments, winning larger ones would give larger rewards.

    8. A tiebreaker system would need to be created, perhaps based upon effectiveness of attacks (attacks won, # of stars (new stars?) per attack, average destruction, something like that).
    9. I would think that regular Clan Wars would not be an option while your clan is in a tournament, and if a clan has entered into the tournament que, the ability to start a new Clan War would be suspended if it wouldn't be completed before the tournament starts. However, this would not make Clan Wars obsolete. There are plenty of clans that would not participate in tournaments because they don't constantly warring, and there would be more and more clans losing out of tournaments that would have to wait before the next tournament starts.



    Now for a couple reasons to have the tournaments, because having an idea that people want is as or more important than an idea that works.



    1. Provides a streamlined way for clans to constantly war. Staying in a tournament would significantly reduce time spent waiting for prep days to be over, and would reduce elixir loss due to constantly donating war castle troops (if the above #4 is implemented).
    2. Increase the loot bonus per tier (people will not want to wait until the end of a tournament to receive loot bonuses when they could just constantly war and constantly get loot bonuses), and have a special bonus for winning the tournament (this would be the only place SC would consider handing out gems, but they may just settle for a significant loot bonus, would probably depend on the tournament size).
    3. Help solve war mismatching. Warring clans will want to fight in tournaments for reason #1. That means the majority of clans doing regular Clan Wars will either be semi-warring, semi-active, or have already lost out of a tournament. This will help separate the 'good' clans from the 'bad', resulting in them being matched up less often.
      • I realize that there will be some clans that will choose to sit out of tournaments with the purpose of preying on weaker clans. Hopefully there will be enough of them that they get matched with each other, or the tournament bonus is enough of a draw to limit that way of thinking.




    Anyway, I hope that this wasn't too long, and I welcome any positive criticism or discussion of any/every idea that I have put forth.
    I love your suggestions and I also understand why you said No to Round-Robin.
    I suggested the RR system because match-making is very ineffective at times. If match-making is *perfectly* fixed, then I don't see why the Tier system shouldn't work.

    Also, the 1 prep day for whole tournament idea was genius!

    My ideas for how the timing should work is that these wars are on a weekly basis:
    Day 1:Matchmaking Day 2:Prep Day Day 3:1st Round Day:4 Quarters Day 5:Semifinals Day 6:Finals Day 7:Break and decide if they want to participate in next weeks war
    Note:Having a day for matchmaking gives it a day where all of the clans who want to war are able to be chosen

    With all the complaining that is done on this forum, do you really think 16 active clans can come together and focus for more that 24hrs not to mention a week? There would be complaints of disconnections, people dropping out, matchmaking, and etc. Make TOURNAMENTS smaller: 8 clans BETTER YET allow a clan to choose between 8 or 4 clan tournaments.

    ONLY REWARD is for the WINNER: 5-8 gems each and/or 800k in gold/elixir with 1500 dark elixir. Why should a 3rd place team get anything? For losing? No!

    not true. imagine lower leveled clans who mass drag... they do not even come close to getting that elixir back and gowiwi is far greater. Making the semi's should give half cc of loot, winning should give you the other half. Winner of finals gets full cc and 75 gems per player. Loser of finals gets 40 gems and full cc of loot per player. Winner of consolation gets half cc and 40 gems per player, loser of consolation gets half full cc

    Let me first Explain The Reward Thing : If You Get 5-8 Gems Why Are You Even Participating In The Tournament ?? 5-8 Gems Are Normally Available Every Day , And 800K And 1500 Dark elixir Thingy Lol I get 2250 Dark Elixirs Normally In every War + 800K Gold/Elixir Is Too Less :v How Can You Imagine A TH10 Will Settle Down With That? ?? 1500 DE is not even a Big Deal In TH10

    And Yeah There Are Awesome Organized Clans Too :3 Members In Those clan Doesn't Leaves Or Drops Out If You Are Meaning It , And Disconnections Huh ? Simply You Can Search For Clans And disconnect The Game :3 It Happens In Normal wars Too + If any Member Leaves It's His Own Headache + Clan's Headache Becoz With The Participants The Clan Started Tournament Will Remain The same Till Last So...     Im sure the top war clans would love a tournament. It would be cool if one clan could set up the tournament and send out invites
