    Loot Penalty question

    Im a TH9 and I attack a 8 so I have a 10% penalty.

    When is that applied?

If I see 200,000 each gold and elix displayed is that already 10% less
    or do I get 180,000 ?

    Thanks

If you see a 200.000 displayed gold when you're going to attack a th 8 and you are a th 9 this has already the loot penalty.
IF You were a th 8, you could steal from him 220.000.

Not to be "that guy," but wouldn't it be 222,222 in gold if you were a TH8 in this scenario?

"These figures are before the loot multiplier is applied. The loot multiplier is what is behind the loot "penalty". The amount of available loot = calculated loot x loot multiplier. The loot multiplier is determined as follows:
Town Hall Level Difference Percentage of Loot Available
    Same or higher level 100%
    1 level lower 90%
    2 levels lower 50%
    3 levels lower 25%
4 or more levels lower 5%

How I read it is that there isn't a loot bonus for attacking a TH level higher than you. The amount of loot available is calculated first (so storages, collectors, clan castle loot, TH each have loot calculated separately with the loot cap applied only to the stores) and then the multiplier is applied, and applies to each lootable building looted.

Let me prove this out with basic math and you will see that IF 200,000 is what you see as a TH9 attacking a TH8, then 220,000 is NOT what you would see as a TH8 attacking the same TH8...Here, let me show you:

    220,000 * 90% = 198,000
    222,000 * 90% = 200,000

    222,000 * 90% = 200,000

    200,000(th9 raiding a TH8) x 90% =180,000 available loot

    200,000(TH8 raiding a TH8) x 100% =200,000 available loot

    200,000(TH8 raiding a TH9) x x100% = 200,000 available loot

Your simple math is confusing because it's the same problem with two different answers

My math is based off of the second post: If you see a 200.000 displayed gold when you're going to attack a th 8 and you are a th 9 this has already the loot penalty.
IF You were a th 8, you could steal from him 220.000.

Only one mathematical answer to that one.

Edit: nvm, I dont want to argue about this..
    I get that if a Th9 sees 200, the Th8 sees 222...
