After 6:00 pm (based on the device clock) the village should start getting dark and then when it's around 8:00 it would be a night village. The darkness would also be better at night because I hate when it's dark and the screen is all bright green.
Tons of threads with this exact idea. As an option I would like it. Not mandatory.
