Do you need to collect the presents to get more of them or do they spawn next to current presents?

After the tree spawned on my secondary account with a present, thats it no more presents. No Christmas tree on main account.

I have presents from last year's x-mas still on my base. If I collect presents from my tree will the presents from last year disappear?
