i have never had the privilege of sitting around with full storages. alas, there is still too much work to be completed on my base.

That's unfortunate for you. Then it seems you lack the proper perspective to post on this topic in an intelligent manner.

Very active players around TH7 or TH8 can do this no problem.

In an hour or two they can often make enough loot to pay for their next builder project. With ready access to loot, cheap upgrades and proper upgrade spacing via balancing different resource upgrades as well as different cost upgrades; it is not hard to keep all of them busy based off raiding alone.

Well I have 4 upgrading collectors at the moment. When my fifth becomes available they will also be doing it. For me as a TH10 with only 2 buildings left to upgrade and an income including collectors of about 1m a day, that makes sense.

Having builders upgrade any number of collectors while you routinely have full storages and other upgrades to do is stupid. Doesn't matter if it is one of them or all of them.

You obviously are not a good raider hehe. If you have a lot time and raid well the last thing you want to do it waste builder time on a collector when you get what you need from raiding. I am Th 9 now and 1 of each at level 10, rest are 8 and 9. I will try and max them at TH9. Once my heroes reach 30 and all my defenses are maxed I am going to Th 10. My poor collectors could miss out again on reaching max.

Check my base out my DE and elixir just about maxed. Keep donating good troops to stop me from wasting both.

Not me. I quit playing COC a few months back and I refuse to make it easier for you lot. I won't build my second DE drill and I won't upgrade my collectors (TH8). I also won't login so I remain right at the back of the queue!

I don't think most players have put that much thought into it. People protect their town halls by default and only if they really think about it do they realize how much better off they are if they move it outside. Even if you care about trophies you are often better off allowing people to snipe you than risking being 3-starred.

I agree. Most players start out playing the game and trying to get as many trophies as possible. I believe this is the intuitive thing to do. It's what the tutorial tells you to do. It's also a strategy that seems to work for a while when you first start.

Later on some of them then come to the forum and whine about how unfair the game is because they get steamrolled by higher levels and what not.

This is totally wrong. You're much better off giving away your resources if you can afford to in the hopes of racking up defensive wins.

In addition, after a certain point as you start getting near champion league it doesn't matter. They will take out your TH and the proceed to attempt to wreck the rest of your base. After all, there is no downside for them going all out with their army once they've got their first star.

you're right, i'm not a good raider in the sense that i don't raid much. i play the game a few times a day and don't mind the length of time it takes to upgrade my base. i get most of my elixir and gold from my collectors, so having maxed out collectors is important to me based on my gaming style. if i had a lot of time to raid, like yourself, no doubt my opinion would differ.
