Does Anyone know how big the damageable portion of an Air Defense is?

It is possible to calculate the probability of successfully destroying a building
(such as an Air Defense) with lightning spells based on the level of the
building and the level of the lightning spell.

However, the calculation depends on how big the portion of the building that
can be damaged is. That is, although each building takes up a certain amount of
space on the map (e.g., 3x3 for Air Defense), some of that space around the
edges is essentially "empty" space as far as lightning strikes are
concerned--a lightning strike that hits such a spot will not damage the
building. Only part of the space that the building occupies on the map is
damagable. Does anyone know exactly how big that portion is for an Air Defense?

Based on observing the animations of various attacking troops, coupled with a
knowledge of the troops attack range, I have been able to estimate the damageable
area to be about a 2x2 square. However, this estimate is fairly rough, and the
calculation is highly sensitive to this variable, as can be seen in the
examples below. Thus, I am hoping for an exact figure if someone is privy to
    it.
