The simulator at www.clashofclans-tools.com/Layout-Builder (under Stats) calculates the real cost, including the limitations on how you can purchase resources and gems. I haven't included walls yet, but now that I've done the graphics I will include them soon

HiHi, I was thinking about doing this calculation. Then I decide to make a complete version.

Check out my google spreadsheet. You enter the level of your buildings and the level of your current troops, and hero, the The summary page will show you how much your village worth, and how long it will take for your clan to max out, also how much you can spend per day, how much you need to rob others to maintain all your works.

I made a google spreadsheet for it, it will tell you how much time you have already spent on your village, and convert to gem, how much it worth. and how much $ it worth lol

Finally, it's my opinion that IF your going to spend money, spend it on builders hut (obviously), pumps/mindes and army upgrades, in that order. Another good use is barrack gemming, for fast farming.

Builder's Hut, $10 to pickup remaining DE for BK and barrack gemming are my expenses. However, I do occasionally waste my barracks gems on finishing off an upgrade that is 1-2 hours away.

I kick myself but I do this too. Sometimes you just can't spend another hour or two raiding but you have the 150 gems to start the build and just do it. (running into this problem getting my mortar's maxed)
