Rush to th9?

With the new update, I'm going to have a lot of elixir lying around since elixir can't be used for L8 walls anymore so I was wondering when I should upgrade to th9.

Here's my base (btw I currently have 45k DE and lvl 10 BK which isn't able to be shown in this layout) :

My thoughts on whether or not I should rush to th9 so far are that since th8 is getting a 2nd drill and I still have some barracks and dark barracks not maxed out yet I should be able to get away with not having entirely full elixir storages all the time. There's also some spell upgrades I can work on although with having DE at the cap I may need to dump that into hogs instead. Once I max barracks, dark barracks, and drill I'm thinking I should upgrade to th9. Any additional input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I believe getting loot is going to be best at TH9 now by a long margin, so it is worth considering. Having a Queen is also a game changer.

Just max everything at TH9.

If it were me I'd just upgrade now, though ur not far off either way. I wouldn't worry about your walls, there a plenty of TH9's still on pink/gold so I think you're way ahead of the curve

Okay, I'll start the upgrade to th10 tomorrow unless some new posts can convince me otherwise.

I currently have 141/225 L8 walls so that's like 66% through walls anyways. I can also get quite a bit done in those 10 days upgrading since I have 5 builders.

for your best interest..just upgrade to th 9 and get your aq..those nasty will think twice to attack with your new xbow and added wall and ability to dump lix to wall when needed.

Up to you..... but you still have plenty elixir needs in the lab....... Th7 will be less viable for raiding, so you will be a weak 9, with weak troops, whatever you wring out of th8, will be easily looted from you....


I'd consider getting some if those troops done before you jump.....

Haha, exactly what I'm afraid of. Just more to give away to th9s who can crush nearly any th8 base with just barching. My archer towers are weak too so the update for those wouldn't even help me defend against th9 barch. It's settled, th9 here I come!

I hardly ever find decent th7 raids tbh. How do you figure I will have weak troops and be a weak th9? Laboratory has always been a bottleneck for th8 so in order to max your base including research you'd have to wait I think 40 days with builders idle? I'll still be able to get barch to lvl 6 when I reach th9. I should only end up being about a month-month and a half behind by upgrading now anyways so I wouldn't say that's all that weak for jumping into th9.

Up front - I'm a firm max first believer. Do you war much? If so what is your clan's philosophy? Where are you in the clan and how does their attacking go? Is it mostly DE Troops or Elixer Troops? Do you use Drags? Dark Troops?

There is A LOT more to consider than just having some Elixer left over. You've got A LOT of upgrades left to do in the LAB which will eat that Elixer FAST. When you hit 9 you will want to get the extra level on troops ASAP but you've got a lot of upgrades in LAB still hanging out there. The higher you get the more you need VARIETY, especially in war. i.e. Yeah Loons suck UNTIL lvl 6 death head BUT you've got to get to 5 before you get to 6. You are at lvl 3 now?

As for the camp you still had pretty weak looking cannons too. Push if you want but always consider the Loot penalty. TH8 will be the least thing you can really raid and even that will take a penalty.

Max everything, get to purple walls minimum, and then upgrade.

You still think this with the new update? I had planned on maxing, but the update makes me think otherwise. My cannons are all lvl 8s and archer towers lvl 8s mostly. Yes they are most certainly weak, both of them. I use all drags in my clan war attacks but I'm probably going to leave my clan for a few weeks since you need so much elixir when you first upgrade to th9. I won't mind holding off on lvl 6 troops while upgrading my other level troops/spells. Majority of my raids are from collectors of th8s+. The loot penalty on th8s will only be 10% so that's not too too bad. Makes 500k raids into 450k. I think I will be okay with that.

I see that you have pretty good wiz towers (at least two of them) BUT!..... archer towers actually make a difference on defense. But your archer towers are town hall 6 level, imagine going to town hall 9 with those... I say stay in town hall 8 and get everything maxed out, you're level 10 king should help you get gold fast. Man, I feel bad for those who rushed to town hall 9 and can't get any loot. Take my advice! Max out your town hall 8, don't be impatient!
