    War opt out button

We need a war opt out button, for each player can set and leader may override, so that we don't have to have people leave the clans, before war is declared due to real life events or other reasons. Coordinating wars becomes an administrative nightmare for leaders, let's make it more fun and easier for everyone. The opt out button should default each season to the off position (no war), make the member turn it on if they want to war.

Welcome to the forum. Please read the stickies and search before posting in the future. This is requested several times every day. There is a link in my sig to one of the longest surviving threads with SC response, a poll and everything else you could want from a forum.

This one actually is not ruled out yet. But it certainly isn't ruled in either. The only word from SC I have ever seen is that one post from SuperSteve that indicates for in some part and against in others. Different people have pointed to different parts of it saying it supports their argument. But IMHO those parts all cancel each other out so in the end it does not really say anything.

I am a huge proponent of the idea and campaign all I can for it, but who knows what's gonna happen. (Ans: No one does, not even the guys that claim to)

As far a it getting raised all the time in so many threads, I think that just speaks to how many want it and supports the argument that it is a very wanted and needed option.

    How it should work...

There should be a button (it can be a new one or the war shield can be
modified) that toggles a player as in or out.

Access to hit the button to toggle should go to the leader and the player in
    question
    .

---- individual players cannot opt each other in or out

---- its an argument either way to give it to co as well - Good for clans where
co is a management job, bad for clans that give it out like candy. (I consider
the latter to be a sign of a bad leader)

---- A leader who abuses authority to opt guys in against their wishes are
really just hurting their own selves for how they are adding a risk to their
war participation. (the guy might then just not attack anyhow, if not seeing
eye to eye with leader he wont care)

---- A leader opting a guy out against his wishes has that prerogative to
decide who he wants in his war. And its still nicer than just kicking the guy
    like happens now.

The status of a player is only a factor right at the time a war starts.
Instead of just selecting all eligible players from the total population it
will just be all eligible players from the opted in group.

---- Can even implement by leveraging the existing eligibility functionality
that currently is only driven by a timer.

After that everything works the same. The list of warriors from the clan is
rounded to an even 5 via the existing logic and then the matchmaking
calculation takes place also using the existing logic.

A player joins a clan with his eligibility set the same way it is today. (He is
in unless there is a timer)

Things that would not happen -

...A player cannot add themselves to a war after the fact. If they change their
status during a war it makes no difference until the next war when that status
    is read at startup.

...This would not serve as a way to replace members that take off during war.
if they do that then there is the same affect on the war as there is today.
Unused attacks stay unused. (it will never change that this just stinks when
    guys pull that stunt)

I always liked an "if you have not attacked in last and/or current league season" it prevents abuse and weeds inactives out of wars.

An automatic setting to 'out' would be handy but the leader can do that too at his discretion. The reason I liked the above approach was because it allowed people to make a choice when upgrading heroes, family vacations, peaking work demands, school exams, or anything else like that. It would be good if guys could put life ahead of a video game when they needed to and without their clan taking a hit for it. And kicking has too much negative connotation to too many (understood not all) so its not a good solution.

I have no problem with kicking for skipping attacks (I allow a mulligan on first but if they repeat it then that's a pattern to me) because if it really is a penalty then its ok with me if it feels like one.
