Im not sure it will stop it.... A lvl 1 drill production rate is so low that anyone who has been zapping in order to use de for troops or upgrades whatever, will still need to do it... Plus it will still be the revenge of choice for those times TH-10 players drop down to attack th-7 or TH-8 players.... But maybe it will slow it down....
All this is assuming the leak is right and since history has shown that rarely are...... I doubt it....

Not sure about any effect on zapping, but it will definitely inject more DE into the game at lower levels if TH7 has a drill and TH8 has two, along with the increased capacity at all levels.
There are tons of TH7-TH8s in the game and this will most likely more than double the production of overall DE entering the game.
agreed. Th7 and 8 seem to be the start of the slowing of clashers as it is when people start to get serious about the game at that point. theres a balance that SC would have to maintain if they want to avoid inflation of DE and an overall increase in DE troop upgrades/faster hero leveling

The drill will likely have some effect on reducing zapping, but the change that only level 9 walls and above can be purchased with elixir will mean there are a lot more players that once again having nothing better to spend excess elixir on than spells so that change will cause it to go up again.

Well, there is always that little green, shiny things to do it, right ? Most top players at trophy leaderboards used them a lot too. SC wants the new, non-paying players to actually keep up to those who already spend massively ?
Most MMOs I've played became more and more pay-to-play the longer it stayed on the net. Heck, some of them even did it literally overnight. SC doing its reverse must be some kind of new breakthrough.
