    wallbreakers...

Thought I'd add several wallbreakers to BARCH to penetrate into certain bases. I find a base where all the storages are on one side of the base, and decided to attack it thinking my wallbreakers would be useful.

Boy was I mistaken. My wallbreakers went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on me; they break through the first wall than the second batch goes through and instead of penetrating the second wall, they turn around and blowup on the first layer and wall adjacent to it.

    Yup!

Wall breakers break walls.,just not the ones you want.

Im sure at one time they used to continue into the base.,but now they are fairly random

This should be added to the 'things that are not true about CoC any more'... I remember when wallbreakers could break through more than one layer of walls.

Wallbreaker logic can be dumb and confusing, so plan on it. They pick a target enclosed by a wall and go for it, but they also go for walls that other troops are hitting. In the process they get very very confused and don't act predictably, although it has a lot to do with range of how far ahead a wb can see that determines the choices available to it, and then the choice is often based on the relative distance of the available options. Deploy carefully.

WB's go for wall sections that have structures in them. If you want your WB's to destroy the second layer of walls, you can follow one of the following strategies.

    1) Clear out the inside structures with ranged troops. Wall breakers won't go for those enclosed wall sections which have no structures in them. Then they will head to the nearest wall junction that houses structures - you want this to be the second layer. If you clear and deploy effectively, your WB's will head inside.

    2) Clear the inside structures deploy more WB's (say 5 - 6). Once the first layer of walls is cleared, they will notice that there are no standing structures enclosed by walls around them and will head for the second wall layer. This method is a bit risky as your WB's get clumped, but if timed properly you can get to the core without destroy much.

    3) A base in which each defensive structure is tightly enclosed by 4 walls is a bit harder to beat with WB's. If you are farming, deploying mass barch on first wave (try to destroy those defenses) and WB's in second wave using 2) method will work. But if you don't time your deployment, a single mortar shell can destroy all your WB's. This base though is "Hoggable" cause there will be no traps in the base.

This strategy applies whether you are farming or trophy pushing.

Another tip to check whether your Heroes will head to the core is to drop a lone barbarian (or any troop that doesn'r have a preferred target). If he heads to the core, drop your BK, if he doesn't, clear out that structure and then try again.

This is the problem. You shouldn't have to do this. Before the WB AI was screwed up the wall breakers would go through to the second layer of wall even if the first compartment still had buildings in it. This is because the first layer compartment has been breached and therefore the buildings there are no longer enclosed within walls. Now they just get sidetracked by the conflicting AI which tells troops to attack the same wall section as each other. The first wall breakers break a wall and their splash damage does some damage to the wall segment next to the breach, then the next wall breakers target this damaged wall and the breach just gets bigger and bigger.

    Wallbreakers are a complete liability.

I guess the cop out is that the unpredictability is built into them to provide more variation

Give us back our original 1 space wallbreakers.

How bout the 2 space wall breakers BEFORE they added: troops work together to break walls?
Or indeed, just remove troops work together to break walls. Its barely useful, and heroes will rarely break a wall together because of the differences in targeting. Very annoying when sending heroes an a TH mission on semi-failed hound attack.
Would also stop archers helping barbs to break walls to get to defending heroes. Not that theyll listen, but great idea from a gameplay perspective, hideous in practice.

What you said still works with concentric layered bases - rectangular core, enclosed by a rectangular wall which is once again enclosed by a rectangular wall. But does not work with other "sectioned" bases. I admit, i didn't know how it was before though.
