Yes, but I don't think many people do since it costs quite a bit

I went the other route and dropped to Gold II. Build yourself 8 Giants, 8 wall brkrs, 20 goblins, 50/50 arch/barbs, with 3 heal spells set to auto in the factory. Use only one and you'll have one available during each raid. Hit these TH7s saving up for their BK. 500 per raid every 15 or so mins plus trophies. It is a grind, but just stay online for a stretch so you gain more than you'll lose if a TH9 comes knocking.

I boosted barracks.... so its doable without gem ming ... just going to take longer.... It was towards endo of th8 though, so had all other troops maxed, which also helped..
