It doesn't. They just say so

    1. To troll

    2. They confuse the chinese words for "Available Loot" with the IGN and dont realize it is always the same letters.

    3. Pure luck.

I can tell you simply by playing that at least at the times i play (noon and/or midnight eastern time) some languages will be endless 50k bases (always the same languages every day) while other languages are the exact opposite.

It has worked without fail every day to me and my clanmates.
Yeah, I jumped a little quick, but anecdotal evidence/confirmation bias aren't strong or valid points of evidence to answer OPs question. I could say I've been on English servers since I started and I've been matched to people who's names are in every other available language, and had all kinds of offers good and bad, but that isn't scientific in anyway.

I have searched for a while and haven't been able to find anything on the forums or from SC about this idea of different language/different opponents.

Snargs test was to show that changing language doesn't change the server you are on, which we can then imply that the matchmaking/opponents wont change with it. However, since we don't know how matchmaking works exactly or how the server traffic is managed (SC likes their secrets) we will never know.

The only thing you switch is global language. I'd heard this said and tried at higher trophy count where there are less opponents and saw the same base in the course of nexting in multiple languages.
