i have been using goviwa attack in almost all my CW attacks and its intersting but i cannot guarantee a 3 star all the time. im about to jump to th9 in a week or so, so you can tell that im using them alot.

BTW i think hogs in CC is more effective... works just like a gohowiwi (hogs released at the half end of the base).
Unfortunately, I am no longer a TH8 (Maxed Th9), so I cannot make any more vids or take pics of three starring Th8s with a TH8 level GoWiVa... And the only clan mate I have currently using it is not nearly ready to hit Max level TH8s (as he has lv1 golems, valks, and lv4 spells). However, I have a few videos at the top of my guide of me hitting bases with the strategy, while I was still a TH8. I have a video of me hitting a near-max level TH9, a rushed TH9, and there may be a few others, but nothing current. I wish you luck, but I personally guarantee it can be done as I was pretty good at it and got bored enough to target low TH9s during war.

It may also help to choose different targets as far as base design goes. Open wall segments where wall won't hinder your valkyries, or LARGE compartments, or better yet HUGE cores are ideal types of bases for GoWiVa to hit as walls are the biggest threat to them. They are fast, but they can't deal with walls too well.

    Another thing that may help:
-Have you been saving 2-4 wizards to be deployed after the core has been taken out? This can ensure that you have some wiz to clean up the base with by deploying them behind a tank such as your king, a golem that bounced, or a small group of valkyries that went code to the outside of the base.
Yes... I'm one of THOSE people who type so much that by the time I realize just how much I typed, it's too late anyway... For that, I'm sorry

    Sure it works?

I've used this composition for my 1st strike, and it pretty sucked like hell, first 2 steps are done, when deploying the Valks, it went straight to the cleared path but then the Valks were spinning around! It might end up with an awful 1 star.. Luckily i got sone cc wizards that got me the 2nd star.. First time i use GoWiVa i brought 8 Valks and more wizards, so 2 golem, 8 valk, 15 wiz and 8 Wbs, it might still give same result of average 2 star with a chance of getting 3 stars..

I am certain it works, however I warn you that it is a complicated strategy that may require practice. I never expect a perfect attack on my first time using a new strategy.

    Some tips:
-First time using a new strategy, if I can see the base I'm targeting, I usually pretend to deploy my army while viewing it before I even attack it. That way, the deployment order won't get messed up and I don't forget any steps. It also help me to settle down a bit before an attack so that I am not so nervous before going in. I actually do the is before EVERY War attack!

-For the first time using a new strategy, I generally pick easier targets. Something I know I can three star using another strategy (a rushed or weaker base for my TH level) is generally best. That way, I can get the basics of the attack down before I try it on a stronger base where every detail counts.

-Valkyries are Excellent for taking out enemy CC troops, but they tend to be susceptible to CC wizards at LV1 and Lv2 while their HP is so low. It is best to drop a healing spell and a rage spell to help them to get through the enemy CC troops and bust into the core all in a single go. Their whirl wind attack is splash damage and can attack both surrounding buildings and enemy CC troops at the same time, so it would certainly not be wasting any spells.

-So long as their isn't an enemy squad of CC wizards targeting your Valkyries, they are actually quite "tanky" for troops. Obviously they rate little compared to a golem or a pekka, but in a group, they can certainly take quite a few hits! So saving your second heal spell can actually prolong your attack quite a bit, which is why i developed this attacking style in the first place!

-Something that I didn't realize while I was using the attack as a TH8, is that attaining 3 Valkyries in your CC is an excellent idea. You can take 7 valkyries in your normal army composition and take 3 MAX level Valkyries in your CC so that you have a stronger army all together! Othter wise, only a TH10 or a LV5 clan can donate lv6 wizards for you. So taking the extra firepower in LV4 Vlakyries in your group of LV2's is ideal and can actually improve your chances of completing a successful attack better.

-I want to say first thing is that I'm sorry that your first attempt didn't hook you, however, practicing the attack can always make it better! And I personally had to do a TON of practice with this attack before I got it right (troop composition, deployment order, and spell placement/timing), but it was well worth while int eh end for me, because I found an attacking style that has taken out formidable targets as well as help others take out strong enemies. If you want some motivation or proof of how effective the attack is, be sure to check out the videos at the top of my guide! And I hope you don't give up on it just yet!

    GL!

    Great Thread

I can't wait to try this! I can never 3-star a max TH8 with AD666, so this will be a nice option.
Question- since you recommend taking 3 lvl 4 valks in your cc, when do you deploy them? In your instructions the cc is dropped last, but that can't be right. So what is the sequence of troops when replacing your valks with cc valks?

In my mind, yeah, that changes. I wouldn't have that be the clean up crew, but you will want Flame to chime in here.

Used GoWiVa against another TH 8. Worked like a charm.

    My army comp was:

    2 Golem, level 1
    10 valk, level 1
    12 wiz, level 5
    6 WB, level 4
    CC: 1 pekka, level 2
    Spells: 2 heal, 1 rage

Had lots left over. Barb King is upgrading, and didn't bother this attack at all. Easy 3 stars.

Going to try to become a Valk guy in my clan since no one else hardly uses them

    Tricky

Just did a practice run with GoWiVa on a med TH8.
    8 Valks
    2 Golem
    15 Wizards
    8 WB
cc: 2 Valks, lvl 6 balloon (random I know)

Base was shaped like a Christmas tree, I attacked at the top. Golems went in the same hole, remaining wallbreakers refused to go through the hole and got killed laterally. The Valks had to bust their way into the core while fighting cc troops. Main force died with 1/3 of the base left, and the cleanup wizards soon after. Barely 1 star- not something I want to repeat in war!

How do you make WB's go straight instead of sideways? And they are SO easily killed, I can't imagine trying to get my troops into the core of a base with skull walls and max defenses

It will become quite obvious to you, the focus of this strategy in these coming Paragraphs, so I might as well say it right off the bat: This strategy of attack is geared specifically for cleaning up a base!

    Overview:
With that out of the way, I must say that the attack will go almost exactly like a GoWiPe will go with a few exceptions. Assuming that you've learned your GoWiPe Correctly, you'd know to release the Pekkas while there's an open path to the TH; In GoWiVa, you'll find that releasing the Valkyries much earlier than you'd release the Pekkas to actually benefit the raid! The Valkyries are actually much easier to control and direct, and they are excellent for wiping a path directly to the center, and they aid the wizards in doing their jobs! The only issue is that you must be able to deliver your WBs or the raid could go south... So it is necessary that you get yourself used to using WBs effectively, and readjusting your army composition to accommodate 2 more WBs may be very beneficial!

The CC, ordinarily holding another Pekka in GoWiPe, is also a key feature in your strategy. And patience is key in effectively applying the CC. If you're lucky, It won't even be necessary to drop it, but in wars, I'd expect tot drop it no matter what! The CC plays a vital role in cleaning up the remains of the base that is wasted away in GoWiPe!

    The Steps:

    1. Apply Golems
    2. Lay down Wizards
    3. Wall Breakers must break through first layer of walls
    4. Send in the Valkyries!
    5. More Wall Breakers
    6. Be prepared to start using Spells
    7. Clean Up

    -Dealing with CC Troops

    Step 1.

Apply Golems- Applying the Golems, like in GoWiPe is to attract all the initial fire, and is possibly one of the most important steps int raiding. It's the first step in pointing your troops int eh right direction. It ultimately determines where the attack starts, and more importantly, it determines whether or not your troops get inside or not (indirectly of 'course). They should be placed with relative distance between them in order to attract as much attention as possible, so that the wizards can get to work on the outside buildings!

Choosing where you apply the golems is essentially synonymous with choosing where you want to start your raid. Since my strategy ignores CC troops altogether, I almost always like to start on the furthest wall from the CC. However, if there's an entrance that is too obvious (such as two layers of walls to the core with little chance of WBs straying to another compartment), I will take the obvious route!

The reason I choose to ignore CC troops in raids will be explained below.

    Step 2.

Lay down Wizards- This is an essential step, and though it may not seem to hold as much weight. The fact is that, while the Golems are soaking up damage, the wizards are safe to clear out all the outside buildings, and that will eventually allow the Valkyries to not get distracted by anything as they enter the base! If any building is left untouched, the Valkyries will get distracted, and that could very easily end your raid with a disappointing frown. So don't be afraid to spread your golems and wizards wide, in order to clear out an entire length of wall!

This part here is very important: Be sure to save a few Wizards! You will only need 8-9 Wizards spread out along here! The remaining 3-4 Wizards will be saved for later in the Clean Up!

    Step 3.

Wall Breakers- The first pair of Wall Breakers are, by far, the most important pair. While the Wizards are busy clearing away outside buildings, these Wall Breakers must punch an attractive hole for the Valkyries to file into the base with! These steps are essential in getting your Valkyries into the base early in on the raid, and in all honesty, it thwarts a good deal of heartbreak when Pekkas walk off after all the hard work put into GoWiPe raids. I think that you'll find it rather easy to get the Valkyries into the base, and You'll be even more surprised when you realize how easy it is to direct your valkyries inside of the base!

Be sure to send the Wall breakers in the middle of your wall (between the Golems), so that they Valkyries have an easy access point with minimal distractions as they go into the base!

    Step 4.

Send in the Valkyries- This is where it starts to get Fun! This step is self explanatory, but I'll continue anyway! Send the Valkyries in with a direct path to the opening int eh first layer of walls. Wait for the outside buildings to be cleared by the wizards, but don't wait too long for the wizards to clear out the buildings into h first layer, or the Valkyries will have nothing to target! These first few steps will happen rather quickly, so be sure to practice a bit!

(You can do this with a few Giants as Golems, Archers as Wizards, and Barbarians as Valkyries!)

Once you're inside the base, your Valkyries will do the majority of the work!

    Step 5.

More Wall Breakers- This step is actually one of the most important steps in taking out the Town Hall! This is how you direct your Valkyries! Send in paris of Wall breakers after the Valkyries to ensure that they continue inside the base. Under the assumption that your wizards have done a good job, the Valkyries will already be wanting to move inside, but the Wall Breakers will assure that they go toward the Town Hall. For a more certain path, you can replace a wizard with another pair of Wall Breakers. Be sure to send them in as pairs! Wall Breakers can be killed rather easily be splash damage, and too many times do I see them spammed into the base!

    Step 6.

Be prepared to start using Spells- This is where things start to get tricky! With the assumption that you decided to ignore the CC -like I do-, you will undoubtably be facing CC troops by now! This is where your first Healing Spell will come in handy! The Wizards will have filed in after the Valkyries and Golems by now, so with any luck, all your Tanks will be taking the majority of the hits by now! That healing spell should keep them up in health while the CC troops are taken out! If you're lucky, your troops will have already progressed deep enough into the base that you're either right outside of the core or already inside! Then, you may drop your rage spell so that it hits the Valkyries and Wizards so that they can power through the CC troops and into the core. The rage will also super-charge your Valkyries while they punch into the core (coincidentally directing them), if the WBs didn't do the trick in the first place! You're only bringing 6 total Wall Breakers, so you can expect that a densely pocketed base will prove to have that issue (even if you bring more than 6 WBs).

Thankfully, Valkyries are excellent at smashing walls! Under a rage that partially encompasses the Core and the Valkyries on the other side of the wall, your raged Valkyries will be able to smash through the wall, wreck the Town Hall, and clear out the rest of the core with the remaining rage Juice! IF there happens to be weak CC troops, your Valkyries may not even need any spells at all! Your biggest threats will be explained further in the CC section below!

Your second Healing spell will be a vital part of the clean-up process, so try to be patient with them.

    Step 7.

Clean Up- This is what we've all been gearing up for from the start! This is the main point of the Strategy, and failing here will be a sad sad day. Ether way, by now the Town Hall has been cleared out, We've saved 3-4 Wizards, We've saved a Healing Spell, and We've saved the CC troops for this point here! Things should be looking good, and there should be a good chunk of time remaining to finish the job! Heck, we've even ignored the CC (even if it was not necessary...) in order to save as much time for this part of the raid!

Clean up will need your Valkyries to do the majority of the work. If you're lucky a good chunk of your wizards will have survived the initial chaos, and will be following your Valkyries as they break into the other side of the Core! The Golems will probably be pounding away on a wall, where they will likely remain for the duration of the raid, and your fingers will be itching to actually do something now! I warn you, Be Patient!

    Sub-step 1.
The Valkyries will be taking a few hits now, and this is what separates them from the Pekkas! They will be ripping through walls, taking out building en masse, sprinting from one to the next. You want to keep an eye on the health of the main group -It's almost inevitable that a few of your Valkyries will split off from the main group. And when the main group gets low on health, you can now drop your heal spell- By now, a good chunk of your enemy's base should be taken out as well, and it would be relatively easy to assume where they'll be heading, so dropping your last heal will be rather strategic!

    Sub-Step 2.
When your Valkyries are all healed up, you will now need to start looking for a decent place to drop your remaining Wizards and CC troops! If there are corner huts or undefended buildings (likely due to pounding on your Golems which have probably not moved since reaching the core), now is the time to drop a wizard or two down. The key here is to drop your wizards where they are free from attack, and where they can feely clean up the base! This can also be behind a moving group of Valkyries! If there are a few Valkyries that have split off from the main group and have survived without a healing spell, then dropping your remaining wizards behind them would work out very well! The wizards may even save them from succumbing to a defense tower!

    Sub-Step 3.
Dropping your CC is the most important portion of the raid! They hold they reinforcement troops that can easily turn the tide of a slowly dwindling raid! If you chose to take Option 1. of CC troop composition, then you can likely set the troops down just about anywhere and they should be fine (I'd just give the valkyrie a little time to pull out shad of the Wizards). Otherwise, I't recommended that you send the wizards after the main group of Valkyries still roaming the base. Be sure that you send them in so that they are coming behind the Valkyries, and so that the defenses won't see them coming in (using the main group of Valkyries as tanks).

-By now, you should've exhausted all of your troops and spells, and the raid should be up to the living members! Assuming nothing went too terribly wrong, you'll be able to sit back and watch the Valkyries and Wizards outrace the clock, giving you that 3rd Star for your clan, or giving you those extra trophies!

    Dealing with CC troops
-The reason I've chosen not to deal with the enemy's CC troops is because of the fact that Valkyries are already amazing with dealing with CC troops! Their splash damage should wipe out any land based troops with ease! Your ONLY real threat would be if a dragon pops out of that CC!

IF a Dragon pops out of your enemy's CC, don't fret! It's certainly not over! Keep your cool, and remember tag you still have options! Wizards are absolute beasts with taking out Dragons! The Valkyries will undoubtably be used as Tanks, and that's where a healing spell would certainly come into play! Then, dropping a rage on your Valkyries and Wizards will make quick work of the Dragon! The Rage spell is incredibly important in this case, as it served multiple purposes:

1- It will get your Valkyries moving out of the Dragon's way!
2- It will super-charge you wizards so that they shoot that winged beast out of the sky with speed!
3- It will rage the Valkyries on that last wall (if the WBs didn't already break into it)
4- It will rage the Valkyries into the TH, and hopefully take out the rest of the Core with it.

Assuming that you started your raid on the opposite side of the base as the CC, the CC troops should arrive on your Valkyries just as they're meeting that core wall/the core itself.

-Though, if you happen to know for certain that there will be a Dragon in the CC, I highly recommend dealing with it separately. You could drop your King to tank the Dragon's hits while a pair of Wizards shoots it out. Or you could create a CC designed specifically to take out a Dragon. I warn you that taking care of CC troops will take time! Take care of them quickly so that you have that extra time to clean up! Time Kills!

    Conclusion
-Ultimately, this was designed and tested, to combat that third star escaping us GoWiPe users! Losing a raid in War to time is an awful thing, especially when your Pekkas are still running strong; The only thing is that the Pekkas are too dang slow! I beg you to see the value of using Valkyries over Pekkas, but by no means am I trying to get rid of GoWiPe all together! This may be a powerful strategy for attacking, but the requirements to fully utilize it are rather high -needing Max TH8 troops.

The Main fault in this strategy is ignoring the CC troops. If you make one wrong move while dealing with them, it could wipe out your Valkyries. You MUST pay attention to this, and be prepared to drop a Healing Spell if things start looking bad!

This strategy can 3 Star Max level TH8s and even 2 Star TH9s. This strategy totally took me by surprise when I found out that I could completely wipe out Max level TH8s, and it even surprised my Clan Mates as well! There are some serious issues that we face in taking out Max level TH8s with GoWiPe, so to see some random Valkyrie raid doing what many GoWiPe's have great troubles doing, and may even find impossible in some instances is a serious achievement!

Not only that, but taking a TH9 head on to get up to 70-80% on them is an achievement that merits some further exploration!

Now, I warn you all that this method of attack has been tested minimally! I have used it to the point that I can tell you what I know above, and there's still plenty more to tell with further explorations and testing of this method! I've tested GoVa, GoVaPe, and many other variations, and have ultimately found GoWiVa to be the most effective! And yet, I still haven't fully explored its possibilities! It packs a big punch against TH9's, and I believe that with some tweaking, I can learn to even 3 Star a formidable TH9 (of 'course, these TH9's aren't maxed, but they certainly came from a Maxed TH8)! There is still some tale to tell regarding Maxed TH8 raids, but I feel confident that what I know now can help you all take on the fiercest enemy TH8s in your wars!

I just war you that you should probably test this strategy on your own before trying it out in a war for the first time! Despite my comprehensive and in depth explanation of the strategy, you should still test it out!

Otherwise, I'll continue to add to this when new information comes up, and I hope you guys enjoy the strategy, and end up using it as your most powerful land-based raid! And hopefully, I'll be able to add some pictures and or Videos for you guys soon! It will greatly help out to actually see what you're doing!

Be sure to cheek out my new TH9 GoWiWiVa Guide HERE!
-Tips from experienced raiders, and questions on this method are appreciated!
Great guide, I love it! I will refer to it as goviz, to distinguish from golem/witch/valkyrie.
    Personally I like 2 golems, 8 valkyrie, 8 wb, 4 archers, and 14 wiz.
Couple things: This strat works extremely well against grids, bases with Tendrils, and compact bases, especially those with large cores.
And also: In the clan castle, max loons near cleanup can be very powerful. Once the air defenses in the area are destroyed, deploy them for support. A pekka in clan castle is also very helpful.

I kept failing with lvl 4 hogs and lvl 5 heal at TH8. It was going ok against mid-level TH8s and below, but I kept failing against max and near-max TH8s. Recently I started trying GoWiVa and it's working much better for me . I personally like bringing witches in the CC with the same army comp in the OP.

I know it all depends on the matchup and base design, but it's nice to have options!

    Didn't work for me:'(

So I saw this guide, and thought hey I had never used valks before in a proper war, so why not?
It turned out terribly, as I decided to substitute two spells for 4 earthquakes to get to the core.
So I deployed my golems, then wallbreakers after 5 seconds which almost all died unluckily.I spread my wizards and took out the side buildings, then sent in the 9 valks. They went forward well, then the cc troops showed up, wizards. Not a big problem, valks and poison spell took them out.
But by this time I had panicked and dropped the heal spell.Which was useless. My wiz all then went in and died from a giant bomb. MY valks got decimated by the barb ki, although about 4 got in the core. They died promptly, as well the the two witches and barb king which I dropped late.Disapointing 43%
