Might as well if you can while you are finishing up walls.
But don't stret it if you don't. You can make up the DE has a hall 8 for the King if needed.
It's way easier to gather DE at TH 8. Once you have your drill at Lvl 3, which is easy to upgrade, you'll get 1080 DE just from it. Upgrade to TH 8 if other things are maxed up!

If that is all you are waiting for then start the upgrade. Finish your walls and BK as you can during the upgrade. It is also easier to barch DE at TH8. Get your Barbs and Archers leveled first.
Yes. What else are you going to do with all that dark. Level 5 is a huge boost in power. I did king to 5 then started upgrading dark troops. I wish we could go higher than 10 at th8.
It's debatable. I went to th 8 because if you have nothing to do but do your king you are wasting time. With the drill it's easier to upgrade your king so I would just move on to th 8 get lvl 5 troops and you are set for a lvl 10 king
You can get DE more easily at th8.

Although, like the others already pointed out, DE is easier to obtain at TH8 (because of the DE drill, and lv5 Barch), you should try to get him to level five at TH7, if you can. If not, don't worry about it too much. There's enough time for him at TH8
