You don't have to max out collectors; a lvl 7 collector isnt that different from a lvl 10 and you're wasting DAYS of building time per collector.
Raiding for resources is much easier. But as the people before have advised, aim to complete all your defensive buildings and walls AS YOUR TH8 IS COMPLETED.
Don't wait until everything is done, THEN start building your TH.
