Why do most of the best players farm?

My best guess to the better phrased question above is probably this:
Maxed bases, going by defenses alone, are EXTREMELY hard to 3 star. Layout really doesn't matter. And anyone at that level is most likely a skilled attacker, so 2 stars is no problem at all.

Also, look at their camps, lots of them are using air attacks, which arent affected by walls

Making a crazy base with no pattern or wall structure is a troll move, and it will still work.

The youtuber Godson is currently making videos using very strange base designs at around 3800 cups, very hard to 3 star a maxed base with any layout.

but like the max champions who are number 1-200 are farming... why?

It's a complex issue, many of the top players aren't legit playing... They tear apart their base so others can't sandbox their base. They piece it together before they log off and scramble it after they are attacked.
