Dark elixir usage at town hall 8

I think that some people are noobs when they use minions or upgrade their dark troops. I feel like the only thing that dark elixir should be used for is upgrading your Barbarian King to the max level(I think it's like 10 or something like that). After that, you should move on to th 9 because getting dark elixir is one of the hardest and longest things at th 8 depending on what league level(Crystal and above shouldn't be to hard). After maxing out you're be
arb King, then you can get to work on upgrading to rest on your dark troops like minions or even golems.Any advice?

Yes but... when you are a TH8 you ar an easy prey for many people, and an almost 40k DE storage will have more than 1000 of it stolen almost each time you are raided.

Yes, DE is best used uppin your heroes, but you can't completely disregard your dark troop upgrades.

You can't expect to 3-star any TH9's or TH10's in wars without strong dark troops.

And minions are worth the training cost of dark for their ability to scoop up extra dark in raids.

Currently doing bk to 10, only bothered upgrading minions, not sure if that's any help but.you can easily get more de at th9 so nm point bothering with hogs / valks etc

If you war then as a th9 you will need golems to do a gowiwi/pe so you may want to start them now.
As a th10 farming with loons is popular so as a th9 you should do minions.

I'm a th10 and I have only levelled golems and minions, though I never use minions and only use golems for 50% of war attacks

I'm gonna get my king to 10, but screw upgrading valks and hogs. I never plan on using them, im just going to balloonian and mass drag to push, and BARCH to farm.

EDIT: I actually like minions though so I plan on upgrading them good for balloonian and Bam

I just upgraded my BK to lvl 10 then I immediately move to TH9 I leave for awhile all my DE troops during my TH8 days, due to the same reason you stated

At TH8, your lab upgrades WAYYYYY exceed your structure upgrade times. So, I put off upgrading my BK, and any of the DE troops until I got to TH9, as at TH9, Hero + Structure upgrade times wayyyyy exceeds your lab upgrade times, giving you plenty of time to catch up.

The only thing that sucks about it is that TH8 war strategy only requires Dragons, so the lab time spent to get good at warring at TH8 is very minimal - you can (and I do) make use of lower level spells and still be fine.

At TH9, to 2 or 3 star other TH9s, you need a *lot* more lab time. You need Maxed Wizards (which you should already have), Maxed Golems (I skipped at TH8 and now am playing the waiting game to get them up), Maxed Pekkas (I also skipped and am currently upgrading), and/or Maxed Witches (not too hard as its one level). Plus, you need high level heroes.

The nice thing is, with an extra spell and an extra dragon, you can effectively auto-3 star any TH8, maxed or not. I use Ballonion to do the same thing at a slight discount, if and when my clan needs me to clean up a TH8.

Well, one of my friends (Also my clanmate) has 550k+ Heroic Heist at TH8. He got his BK to level 10, Upgraded Hogs to level 4, minions to level 3, Golems to lvl 2 and is a pro at Th8 GoWiPe...
He's moving up to TH9 now.
