YouTube will help you a lot. Search videos for different type of army compositions (Barch, BAM, GiBarch, and so on).
Farming takes plenty of time and dedication, but it gives you satisfaction by achieving something you have worked hard for. I am a farmer and took me awhile to be good at it.Well, I've always struggled with farming, attack strategies, lay-outs and more.

First and foremost, you need to set goals and priorities of which one to upgrade first in lab or buildings, etc. Let say, you wanted to upgrade ur troops, (which should be priority) when you farm, focus in farming elixir and Dark elixir...mostly look for dead base with full collectors and mines..or if you find a base with easy access to elixir storage go for it even if you did not get any gold. After all your elixir upgrade, then you can focus on gold and De. De farming should always be priority. You want those hero to be upgraded as fast as possible. With the troops composition, I use barch, fast to make and easy to use, and I look for dead base or bases that has their storage close to outside walls. in my opinion, all troops composition for farming are the same, you just have to find the composition that works best for you and what loot you after. for instance, when i'm farming De, I use balloons and minions cause they can get in middle easily.
so to become good farmer, set goal, focus your farming on that goal, and find what teoops conposition best for you. Everyone is different on what they like to use.

Time is the greatest asset to been a good farmer.
Play often, keep refining your attack strategies to rely less on spells/heroes/powerful troops. As your goal is cost benefit instead of finding the massive 300/400k raids.

2. go up to masters 2
3. use a strategy like BAM to farm
4. dont search a dead base, just look for a easy base to get 50% .. the bonus is more than enough to get 4m gold in 2 hours
enjoy your base progress day by day
And remember, it will take months to farm a max base, but thats the game!
