I think OP understands why the mechanic works well for players, I believe they're just wondering why the mechanic is allowed to exist. I've always thought that the TH outside was a cheap out (doesn't stop me from doing it), and I agree there should be some incentive to protect it

Hey, someone gets it! It is poor game design, and it has become so entrenched in the culture/expectation/strategy of the game that SC won't change it. Such a shame.

Unless you gem, the ONLY effective way to farm enough resources to move through the game is by picking on those slightly below you or the inactives. If I stayed in the 'proper' league, I would need to be building a 400k purple (with spells) and 1.5k DE army in hopes of getting a star or two and hoping to recover some of the vast amount of resources GoWiPe + spells requires. The only way max TH10s are going to find it profitable to beat up on other max TH10s is if there is an enormous amount of loot available with the average base.

If you've ever done a proper trophy push, you'll know how quickly you become 'poor' having to go up against tough bases.

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm pushing with balloonion and gaining gold, elix, and dark (the latter two much more slowly than in gold, but I'm still gaining them). League bonuses encourage people to move up to their 'proper' league, and incentives to keep your th inside would do the same. Attacking your equals with fairly cheap/quick armies is admittedly tough, but it's far from impossible.

So exactly why does SC waste time writing down two paragraphs about how important PROTECTING the TH is?

Players manipulated the game-play when you want to just keep your resources then TH outside for higher chance of shield since somepoeple need to push and same goes to trophie hunting when you reach higher league like masters , champions people will start playing the real game
