Well, I don't have them, but I have my google account charged with 110 bucks... I don't plan on using it for other apps, but it also isn't necessary to spend it on coc...
just wanted to know what you guys would gem with my current village:
(I thought of gemming ALL left elixir upgrades to start dumping it into walls..)
Enough gems to boost until youre a semi maxed th10.
Probaly the best way to spend them.

It depends on your troop levels, and how you play the game. If you war all the time and have weak GoWi troops, I might look there. You have low level heroes, so that would be another option (training time only would be the most economical choice, but you could gem the resources for instant upgrades). If you want to make the gems last, I would just boost farm when you have a few hours to kill watching television or whatever.
I was given about 16000 gems for my birthday. A whole bunch of google play gift cards. It was generous. I used them all to boost my troops since there's only one lab. I did most of my dark elixir troop upgrades so I could focus the rest of my dark elixir on just heros the rest of the game. I also boosted barracks anytime I had the chance. Defense will take care of itself quicker with 5 builders.

Always boost..... Never use gems for walls, they are not that worth it (to buy with gems) unless you're an active gem buyer who has a lot of money....
I suggest to research all your troops and spells
You should definitely boost your barracks. That way, you're bringing in more money and you can upgrade those walls and any other defenses that need to be upgraded.
I would save the gems and use them only to speed archer queen and barb king upgrades so you always have them in war.

Use them very slowly to boost and raid and it will last you until you are a really good TH10. Gem time occasionally and boost a lot but never gem resources.
