    No, that's wrong!

    If you have a successful defense you get attacked again 5 minutes later, now with no castle troops or traps, and you lose the resources and trophies anyway. That's why so many people farm.
    There should be more incentive to protect your town hall. A defense bonus properly thought out could achieve that.

    Even during a push, I found it was easier to leave the the th out. As it was much better to give up one star, very rarely will someone take the th then try to get a second or 3rd. If I had to guess i would say 4 out of 5 raids on my base are just a th snipe.

    The free sheild is a flaw in the game, and it's part of the reason there is a loot problem.
    The flaw in the game is that the primary source of loot for active raiders is theft from other players. If you compare the amount of loot we want per day to the amount of loot our collectors earn you very quickly realize that the game needs to mostly consist of people that exist only to get robbed. Such a system could work out if the majority of the players were people that had quit and therefore were just loot producing machines that never spent anything, but inactive bases are dropped out of the queue leaving us with just active players to rob and not enough resources to go around.

    The loot problem is fixed by increasing the amount of loot that is produced and decreasing the amount we rely on stealing from others. Ideally, when you raided a base, the other player would lose almost nothing and most of what you got would just be created on the spot. This is the way clan war loot works and is basically how it works when all you do is snipe a town hall.

    I see your point but the entire game is based on being active and attacking other players. Defending is not being active. There should be incentives for attacking, not defending.

    I second the idea for a reward, could help incentive farmers to put their TH inside their walls.

    I get your point as well, the game is geared to encourage one to stay online. But man, why do I keep upgrading my defenses and walls when the only possible result when I log off is that I will lose a ton of resources, or even a couple tons if I actually win at defending and I then get attacked multiple times.

    The ONLY solution to this is to leave an exposed townhall.. Which ironically, I don't usually do. I tend to think all that work in building up defenses and designing a strong layout should have some reward. I am a big fan of the win bonus going to whoever won, offense or defense. It's a win, reward it.

    I agree that there should be an incentive for defending, and recognise that if you have a bonus that is greater than the cost of the troops deployed then that may lead to rorting or imbalance in the game somewhere. I suggest the loot bonus for successful defence should be based on the attacking troops killed. Given loot lost and rearm costs, it won't ever be "profitable" to defend, but at least it should not cost as much as it does currently.

    Exactly.

    Winning defence = losing.

    I have close to a $1 million gold grab all pumped into walls and defences. Despite that I do not ever want to defend because I get ZERO benefit for doing so.

    Only way that can be fixed is giving a league bonus.

    We have asked for this constantly and SuperCell NEVER reply to it, quite pathetic really. Biggest fundamental flaw in the game.

    I still love the game, but this aspect really pisses me off; and effectively forces me to put my hall out.

    Knowing SuperCell they will probably one day instead punish people putting their hall out rather then fix the reason why it happens. Government logic.

    I will always keeping my TH outside until I max everything. The point of upgrading my defense is to prevent the sniper to go further to my resources and also for clan war. Keeping my resource safe is all the reward I need from upgrading them. This won't change even if there's a bonus for defense win.

    However if people who puts the TH inside needs this bonus then I support it.
