Honestly other than a war, I usually only use barch and minions because I am a full time farmer. I let them train overnight but it doesn't really make a difference considering it is only a 30 min army.

I used to do a good dragon + loon combination before I go to bed. Next morning I go down my revenge list and find the lucky winner who offers 2k5 DE.
After the elixir update, I don't do that anymore. Because I don't want to bring a dragon loon army to make a 200k gold & elixir raids when I could not find a base that offers 2k5 DE.

Exactly what I was going to post.
Prior that update I would cook crazy armies to donate and massacre someone for a hell of a lot of fun.
Now elixir walls exist, not anymore. That resource is too precious right now.
That single update killed a lot of fun in the game. Still scratching my head as to why SuperCell did that, just crazy. Let's just barch forever…yay...
Yeah it might be more of a grind to raid for elixir now a days but to me it's still manageable. I do build armies at night. Sometimes just WBs to hide elixir.
