Love the idea. This would truly allow us to improve inside our clan only at the costs of resources to build troops. That is a trade-off I would do any day so +1.
If it did become a mini game, would that be such a bad thing? How about this... We only get to attack each base once during war. Keep the post war battles to once per base. That way, you only have one shot to show a better raid, just as they only had one shot to do their own raid. There could even be an achievement added, for stars above and beyond those of your clan mates.

If my suggested modifications were made to this idea, it would not cost elixir, or time, and there would be no loot. If someone raids poorly, that is what we currently see in a replay. This would allow those people to see how they could have done better, with the exact same army and spells. We could teach our clans a lot from this.
Mini games are technically ruled out. But this, if it did cost a fraction of the training cost, could be a thing as people wouldn't just blindly do it just to pass the time but do once or twice after a war to increase their warring strategies and attacking potential

I don't know if you meant to say this, but it should continue one day after war as you said, but we should be able to start a war before it ends so we can do more than 2 wars a week.
This idea is amazing, my clan mates could definitely use some help on their attacks. I wouldn't mind spending elixir if it means it'll benefit their future raids.
