transfer game ownership

i was given an iPhone by a friend, and he had started a game of COC on the phone, he has bought a new iPhone and also started a new COC game on the new phone. I want to take ownership of the game on my iPhone. How do i do this? do i need to delete the current copy of COC on my phone and purchase a new copy of COC? if i have saved my profile and game progress in GameCenter, will the new copy of the game be able to find it and implement it [my existing profile] ... i don't want to lose everything i have accomplished to date ...

You can't do this. SC specifically prohibits the transfer of accounts.

Your friend would have to give you the credentials to their game center account with their old village. Then you could switch between your village and their village by logging into the two accounts.

Note, though, that the ToS also state one account per device. SC isn't particularly aggressive about enforcing this, but they also will not offer support if one of the villages gets screwed up either.

I think he means he already has his own account and wants to be able to play that on the new phone.

If it has your friends account on, it means he hasn't wiped the phone settings etc. I would do that first, then when you set it up on itunes as you it should recognise your gamecentre account and then load your existing village.

I would double check that he is sure he doesn't want his old account first, because if it isn't linked to gamecentre and you wipe it, it will be lost.

i understand not transferring directly ... but can i delete the original game app, and re get the app on my own account. i have saved my game profile and progress on GamdCenter ... will this work?

Just log out of Gc then and re-login with your account. Make sure on your old device that it is booted to GC tho

yes, i think you have the basic idea here ... i have already changed the app store and game center over to my account, and now want to re-establish the game ... do i remove an app by holding down the icon until it wiggles, and then select the "x" to delete it, or does this only remove the icon from the desktop? i have no problem with re-getting the app, i just don't want to loose my progress ... i have the game's current progress and the profile stored on GameCenter ...
