Im thinking it might mean crossbow because its a real weapon and I've seen x used for cross before (lacrosse = LAX)

Anyway, me and my friend (or should I say, "my friend and I") were having an argument about this.

Yes, x means cross because the x letter is two lines intersecting with eachother.

Well when Microsoft came out with the Xbox, do you think the really meant to call it a CrossBox? Whoever thinks the Xbow should be a crossbow lost the argument.

Why would they have it types "X-Bow" if they wanted it to be crossbow. They would have typed it as "crossbow" if that what they meant. Also there is no argument that "crossbow" is too long because there are buildings that have names longer.

Yes, I've seen signs saying "Deer X-ing". It isn't meant to be spelled out fully, just abbreviated to be "cool". It is an intentional play on words. Just because Xbox isn't cross box doesn't mean this can't be abbreviated. Sorry, but it is a pretty obvious pun.
