X-Bow means Crossbow...Right?

Does Xbow mean cross bow, with the x standing for "cross?"

Im thinking it might mean crossbow because its a real weapon and I've seen x used for cross before (lacrosse = LAX)

Anyway, me and my friend (or should I say, "my friend and I") were having an argument about this.

I honestly don't know. I always think of X-Box when I hear X-Bow. That is just me though.

What I was thinking was that when the Xbow came out it was intended to be called "crossbow" and it was written as Xbow so the name would fit better in the store and stuff since it wasn't too long
