How does a player buying gems hurt anyone?
I would love to have someone, anyone, present a single lucid and valid argument on this subject...

Supercell is a business and their revenue comes from "in-game" purchases. Those who buy make it possible for those who do not purchase, to continue playing for free. Based on revenue figures, there are millions of players making in-game purchases.

if your clanmates buy gems, great! You're lucky. Those gems go into things like troops and those troops get shared with the clan. In effect, not only is your clanmate making it possible for you to play for free, he/she is sharing their money with you in the form of troops.

    Be grateful.....

The part related to gemming lab time might be right depending on the time he spent in th9 but the elixir part is doesn't need to be gemmed. Anyway I think gemming time might be needed at certain upgrades especially heroes and lab.

It can hurt you several ways apart from the philosophical quibbling. First a confession I regularly gem boost my barracks as I do loonion attacks in masters and I don't have all day to waste when I play, infrequently gem for other things, avoiding overflowing resources is another example.

If they are in your clan they will hurt you at war match up time, they score higher in the rating with higher troops and defences. Secondly it is a rare example that a gemmer who hasn't done the hard yards is great offensively. They haven't spent the time to understand the game and the new challenges at each level. I have seen many examples of bases that look like Tarzan and fight like Jane, real liabilities on the war map on your side.
If you don't do clan wars less of an issue I guess except they are more likely to be town hall rushers and struggle with loot penalties to get by successfully so don't expect those high level troop donations because they often can't afford them.
