This was most likely a Revenge match. You can revenge other player’s attacks by clicking the Revenge button in the Battle Log. Attacking through this button skips the matchmaking entirely and can create matches with a large difference in trophy points.

We’re working on ways to make it a bit more clear which attack came as revenge. This should clear up a lot of confusion surrounding this functionality"

They didn't plan on people deliberately dropping trophies to bottom feed. I've seen it on my alt account. They aren't just in the silver and lower gold leagues because they are away from the game. They are actively farming with no concern for retribution.

They have used a partial BARCH and got all of my loot. Even with the loot penalty there is a profit.

It's just random depends on your trophies range you can find players which is 100~200 trophies around you
