Why would you use DE on walls instead of heroes?
Two things:
1) Walls are expensive, but letting us spend dark elixir on them can potentially make them three times easier than they were originally. I don't think it would be fair on all the players who spent ages farming gold for their lavas and zaps.
2) That won't really stop zapping. If you're saving up for a big DE upgrade you wouldn't use it to upgrade walls before going offline.
How about a new item called a DE sheild that you can only buy via gems or some ridiculously high amount of loots that you can activate only via gems or ridiculously high amount of loot and will not only protect your collector from lightning attacks but will do damage to any other troop attacking. That will surely be profitable.

I would rather increase the amount of damage the lightning bolt does. I never get enough de from zapping compared to the 60k+ elixir spent to do it.
Great, now that elixir is much more scarce because of being dumped into walls, let's go ahead and make it impossible to upgrade heroes anymore!
