If your willing to stick around and do that then in my opinion you dont really want to quit.
Be awesome and help the community(and nerf the whiners a bit)! Put your collectors as far from your base as possible!
When I retire I'm putting all my collectors inside a grid of walls with mortars and wizard towers intermixed. I want to make it as hard as possible for someone to clean them out.
