Im struggling to get to Masters also, it seems to me that the most important part of a strong base is having AT LEAST skull walls? Ive tried to many bases just to keep getting hammered on once I hit about 2400-2500 trophies... My defenses arnt totally maxed, but not far from it...
It also depends on lvl of defenses and obviously, Im nowhere near max th9.
It's pretty good and it's working well for me
