Thread: Why is it that people seem to brag about high trophies at low town halls?

I know that the main goal of this game is to gain trophies, but shouldn't people say "I got to 3200 trophies" rather than, "I got to 3200 trophies as a town hall 9"?

It just seems silly to add that little bit in, I mean, what is the point?

Sure it's nice to get to that amount of trophies, but it just seems odd to brag about spending a lot of time sniping rather than properly raiding.

I do acknowledge that it is harder to spend so much time sniping or going for 50% as a lower level town hall as oppose to a town hall 10.

Please can someone shed some light on it? Because it just seems like they are trying to compensate for their lack of progress in relation to their village.
It is harder for lower THs to go high in trophies. For TH1-8, it shows dedication in terms of time and patience, because they will be wiped out for 3 stars every time once they climb in trophies. For TH9s, it shows a mix of skill and patience, because you can reach high trophies as a TH9 without relying on sniping and actually raiding with skill, but is still harder than doing so as a TH10.

But why brag about an underdeveloped account? I know some people choose to directly disregard the Terms of Service and have two accounts, but it is still weird to want to tell about an achievement and then say that you have an underdeveloped account.

It is like me cutting my leg off and then running a marathon and saying that I'm really good.

Because it's harder to reach there so it's more unique. If a 5 year old kid squatted 100 pounds or 50 kilograms, would to call that nothing impressive? While there is probably no real use of having a low TH in a high league, it doesn't change the fact that effort was required to get there and people are usually impressed when they see others do stuff they can't do.

Also while it violates ToS, that thing is over a year old and I consider it outdated. SC has said that it's fine to have multiple accounts and the Game & Support Page supports multis too

Also you really would have to be good to run a marathon with that huge handicap and bleeding stump of a leg

Yes but it doesn't take skill to sit on a game and click next until you find a snipe. And it doesn't take skill to sit on a game and click next until you find an easy base.

Your example doesn't really make sense as someone already said they have multiple accounts. So it would be more like they compete in powerlifting and then cut off one arm to compete in handicapped powerlifting.

edit: and then brag about how they have only one arm and can squat 350

I'm not entirely sure what's the point of talking about a 2nd account but if someone cuts off one of his arm/starts a new account and still lifts/pushes more than most of the lifters/players ever will, that is impressive to me because people normally couldn't do that point without the handicap in the first place

Also like I said earlier, it's not always about the skill that is impressive. Watching to see how far someone's determination gets them is also interesting.

But they could have easily reached the league with a proper account?

Of course it's easier, that's why it's more of an achievement with a weaker account. Some people are ambitious and want the challenge.

Recently I got a bit lazy barching for resources and dropped trophies almost to the point where I would have got a demotion to Silver I.

I noticed that in lower leagues I get raided für resources myself way more frequently than in gold I or Crystal III. In these leagues my exposed townhall is sniped most of the time. I suspect this is due to more people trophy pushing in that range. So I decided to change that and slowly but steadily climbed the leagues again.

    • Only attack for loot if I was confident I could get that 50%, too
    • If there's an exposed townhall, take it

Now I'm also a frequent user of my defence log. And there were three attacks sniping my townhall in that two week period that made my jaw drop.

    • Townhall level 6
    • Far from developed base even for that townhall
    • Could steamroll (100%) it with just 60 barbarians and archers, each - no BK, no spells, just whoosh - pop - base gone, no strategy needed.

And I gained way more than 30 trophies each time! Which I took gratefully. Yes, not "nice".

Sooo ... ♥♥♥ are these guys doing up there? I mean, they are more than easy prey, they are just begging to be punished. Sniping your way up 5 trophies at a time with a base that is far from a match even for a TH 7 or 8, if it's remotely developed. Talk about perseverance

    I don't get it ...

But then, to me the objective of the game is developing my base. Trophies are meaningless to me outside of finding a range that is optimal for my farming.

    Kind regards
    Patrick

It actually does take a lot of skill in a couple areas:

    1. It's a matter of self control - don't take risks with a low level army, people hide teslas around THs - after a while you kind of develop a 6th sense when something doesn't look right - much better to skip ... doing that after 500 next's takes a ton of willpower.
    2. Getting out of trouble if you inadvertently trigger a tesla or clan castle you need to get out of trouble and with 30 lvl 1 barbs and archers and no spells that's a tough ask.

It's not a skill-less way of playing but I agree bragging about anything in life is setting yourself up for a fall.

Lol your hate for TH9! Most TH9s use loonian. They don't Snipe. TH9s can make the very same loons that you can make L6. Both lose on defences. So TH9s are not useless. Though its a bit tougher with 220 space. The best guys are TH8s who push to champs. Check out Apotheosis. I don't remember the name but a TH8 there is Two starring your so called high town hall with one of the lowest town halls (according to your logic)
