You should probably raid a little more and maybe protect your resources better.

I'm using the old rolleyes emoji. I'm happy they added more but... I will always roll my eyes using the emoji that is now called "smirk"

    My suggestions:

    1. Empty your collectors as often as possible. If you are raided you lose 50% of that loot, but only a small portion of other loot.
    2. Put your TH outside. There is ALWAYS a bigger fish. Putting TH outside means there's a chance that someone will snipe your TH before that fish finds you, and losing to a snipe is much cheaper than losing to a 100% flattening.
    3. Don't worry about trophies, keep them low by losing def/losing attack. Try to find a range where the loot is good.
    4. BARCH = barbs and archers. Cheapest and fastest army for emptying collectors from abandoned bases, and that's where the biggest loot hauls are. Look it up on youtube.
    5. Do not rush your town hall. Upgrade every defence, that you can first, and walls if you have a little patience.
    6. Do not upgrade your town hall until you have run out of other things to upgrade with your builders.
    7. DON'T RUSH YOUR TOWN HALL.
    8. At the risk of repeating myself, enjoy every town hall level, remembering that every time you upgrade the TH the loot penalty increases for bases smaller than you, and opens up more of your loot to players bigger than you. Loot is easy for you now, don't be afraid to step out and take it. Things stay find until about th8. At th9 loot gets scarce (especially elix now).
    9. Link your account with google+ or gamecentre. Preferably before you drop and shatter your phone.
    10. Don't be afraid to lose battles. Defending isn't fun anyway, the fun in this game is attacking. Raid - raid hard - raid fast. Always keep that lab busy with upgrades, and have a lot of fun along the way.

    (TH means town hall)

A lot of good suggestions in here so far.

I'd like to reiterate the good idea of NOT using gems on a shield, ever! ...and instead, save your gems up for additional builders, period. That's the #1 thing to spend gems on, additional builders. Once you've spent all the time necessary to save up for and have used your gems on acquiring the 5 total builders you can ultimately get, I like to spend gems on boosting my barracks and going mega raiding. It's a blast!

Another good tip I didn't see mentioned (sorry if I skipped over it) is to potentially watch some youtube videos on how to start out in Clash of Clans, or perhaps check out the PlayClashofClans series by Chief Pat, I learned a ton from him about everything from how to design good villages that protect what you want to protect (i.e. your resources and/or townhall), to how to raid efficiently (searching for good bases to raid versus just attacking the first player you search, using inexpensive army compositions to raid effectively, insuring good profits from your raids, to how to actually deploy your troops wisely when raiding to achieve the best results, etc.)

One can gain a TON of helpful insight from the countless videos on youtube. If you have some time, check em out! I bet it'll steer you in the direction of an excellent and amazing road up to TH10, having a bunch of fun along the way!

Good luck, hope you do well and enjoy the game!

This! When you put your town hall outside your walls, a lot of times someone will come and destroy it and leave your storages alone. You also get a 12 hour shield from this. Preventing anyone else from attacking and stealing your resources for that 12 hours.

Do not buy a shield! Total waste of gems. Before you upgrade your town hall.....make sure all your buildings/walls are upgraded as much as they can be. Just keep your builders busy, no matter what you have them working on. As soon as you get sufficient gold or elixir....spend it on your next upgrade.

    Good luck

If you have 137 trophies, you should have reach 300 in 5 mins by doing nothing, actually. When I went sub 200 (to 179), I had 400K loot on offer. I dc'ed for 5 mins and I was on 297 as around 6 people attacked me.

    Anyway point is:

    1) Keep townhall outside
    2) Collect loot, you may also want to upgrade your collectors a bit to get good passive loot
    3) Use Barbarian and archers as your primary army composition.
    4) Upgrade your army camps to make bigger armies.

Also, you should be doing the single-player goblin missions until you get to a base that's too hard. Then, once your offense strength increases, come back to the goblin missions and do more.

I am thinking about getting the 1 week shield so I have some time to build some things up and get more defenses. I don't know how to post a picture of my place or I would do so.
You have to raid often. Mines/pumps won't help alone. Raids only take a few minutes to make at your level and you can easiy raid a few times each session.
