Hello, I am new to this game so this may be a stupid question so forgive me. Every time I login I have been attacked and have lost most of my gold and elixir. Which of course makes it impossible to build it up for the higher cost upgrades and items. So I am starting to not see the point in playing. I like it and want to have fun but so far it's just frustrating. Any suggestions? Thank you.
We can probably help, but its easier if you provide much more information. What town hall level are you, what is your trophy range, how often are you attacking, are they taking your storages or collectors, etc?
Long story short though, being raided is part of the game. The key is to raid more often than you are raided, so you bring in more resources than you lose.

An attacker can't take ALL of your resources, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The amount that can be taken is a sliding scale depending upon your TH level and your opponents TH level. Lastly, when you raid, make sure you raid enough in one sitting to cover at least a 20% lost due to someone raiding you when you log off.
Thanks everyone. My Town Hall is level 3, My trophy number is 137, I think I have only attacked once so that may be part of my problem. I thought I should get stronger before I do any attacking. I shouldn't have said ALL my resources, that was misleading and I apologize. I am trying to save up enough to upgrade my Town Hall. I am thinking about getting the 1 week shield so I have some time to build some things up and get more defenses. I don't know how to post a picture of my place or I would do so.

I find the best way to control losses is to manage your shields; ensure your shields expire while you can access your device. Log on even if you don't want to properly play at the time just before it expires to empty gold mines & elixir collectors and log off again.
At least then you cannot lose as much each time. Making it easier to save.
Don't spend them on shield. Always save them to get additional builders.
th3 is having problem?
you should raid more... everything in th3 is very cheap. do not wait for your collectors. what they take from you is easily gained within a raid or two.
having all said that, if you are having problem in th3 you will definitely hate th8.
Agreed. I've only once paid for a shield, and it was when I went on a 7 day cruise and was going to be out of range of any cell connection. So I emptied collectors, paid for upgrades, and bought a 7 day shield right before boarding. Start raiding now. No need to wait for stronger attacks. Just find people to beat. Once you get a shield, keep it up and ride the 12-16 hours out unless you're ready to play a few hours. But you need more loot going in than going out. So you need some attack wins to balance out the loot losses..
So when I attack since it costs so much elixir to rebuild my troops, that's ok, right? The main thing I need is gold and that is the main thing I am trying to gain when I attack? Sorry, I will get the hang of it I am sure, but I have a hard time spending so much elixir building troops and not gaining that much elixir back from the attack.
