    Seeking advice from veterans

    Hey folks

Im a TH9 with a decent enough base (My clan is "The Whiteshaw" and my name "Lord Commander" who want to check it out) but I find myself in a bit of a dilemma these days with where I'm at in the game.

Upgrades at TH9 cost a lot of gold or elixir, and they take a considerable time to actually upgrade. Because of this I am finding myself with my gold and elixir stores building up but I'm unable to use the loot ive gathered.

Now what I would like advice on (yeah, I'm eventually getting there) .... is when I get a free builder is it smart to spend all my loot on upgrading my walls to level 9 but leave enough resources to start another upgrade thus leaving any attacker with virtually obtaining no loot from me.

    Or....

should I just be storing my loot for my next upgrades and not be wasting them on walls, considering the level 9 walls cost 1 mill per piece.

Im really just looking for experienced players who know what they are talking about to offer their advice on the issue since they may well have had a similar though when they were in my shoes.

Anyway thanks for the read, please actually write a reply and don't just view it.

i appreciate all advice given, thanks again

It will depend on your play style. If you are on a lot farming, put it into walls. You can make enough for the next upg in a couple days. If you raid a couple times a day, store it up for the next upg and ride shields.

Largely the point is to collect/pillage as many resources as possible while losing as little as possible to others. I bought the extra builders after a few weeks of playing clash and managed to keep all five busy until I hit th10. I would say what you are aiming for is keeping all 5 builders busy without losing loads of resources to attackers.

    1) Try not saving all three resource types at once for upgrades. If you are saving for a hero (de) and a defensive upgrade (gold), plough elixir into walls. You will be a slightly less appealing target.

    2) Try and time saving so that you only reach your target savings just as the builder frees up, this will minimise the time you are sat on maximum resources.

    3) Try staggering the builders so that something finishes once a day or every other day (going off th9 upgrade times). You are only saving for one upgrade at a time then, not up to five.

With the extra options available for wall upgrades now, resource management is a lot easier than it used to be.

    His advice was great.

It sounds to me like I play similarly to you, well, perhaps. I work full time, so 5 days a week, I don't raid very much throughout the day because I'm working. Those evenings I may play/raid for a few hours, however. On my 2 days off, although I have chores, errands, may spend time working on my car, etc., I will sometimes play for a handful of hours on one or both those days and typically I bring in a few million gold/elix, or more if I boost my raxes.

I think it really does depend on your play style and how successful you are when you raid at bringing in large quantities of loot. If when you raid for awhile, you're generally able to bring in a lot of loot, then it sounds like starting your big upgrade and then dumping the rest of what's available into walls would be a wise way to go. Like you mentioned, you essentially make yourself much less of a juicy target for others to raid at that point. However, if you struggle to get a lot of loot quickly, it would seem wiser to do as he said and start your big upgrade, then just hang on to the rest of your resources, keep your TH outside, so hopefully someone will just snipe it and ride free shields until you have another builder free and can start up the next big upgrade with minimal raiding that may be necessary.

    Good luck sir, happy clashing!

To me it seems like you can either start leaving a builder free for walls now, while you wait on longer upgrades or you can put all builders to work, upgrade everything and then sit with idle builders doing walls. For me personally, I went through th9 with all builders busy and through th10 with one free for walls. And I've enjoyed th10 much more, even tho everyone says loot sucks and whatever. I would have worked more on heroes at th9, if I knew back then just how good they are.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers, Rock.

Proudly maxed TH10 as of January 14th 2015

properly timed builders would give you a max of two days before the next builder is free, which isn't too bad
