My clan just started a war and on of the early attacks from our opponent consisted of high-level troops, including hog riders, barbarian king, and high level healing and rage spells. His war village is TH5. I went searching for their clan and found his actual village to be a fairly mature TH9. How did he do that? I suppose he could have massively gemmed up his base just after preparation day ended, but who would do that? (And that's a trick you could only do once.) I'm going to investigate some of the other attacks in this war to see if this happened with other villages from this clan. But this stinks of some kind of ♥♥♥♥♥ing. Should I be reporting this through some official channel?

Nope. If his base was a TH5 when clan wars came out, and he is somehow a TH9 now, but he has NEVER edited his war base, his war base stays the same.

Really?!? That seems like a terrible misfeature. That means that we are being matched with clans based on bases that they are not actually fighting with. If a whole clan did this then they could be matched against very low level clans and attacking them with dragons, dark troops, and archer queens. (not sure why they would want to do that, but they could...)

I thought at least the buildings that were already in the war base would be upgraded along with their non-war equivalents. This seems confirmed by the fact that my upgrades that finish on preparation day seem to appear upgraded in my war base regardless of whether I edit my base. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but I am pretty sure that's true.

well, I think the matchup system works on both level and regular TH, so I dont see it being too big of a problem, and this will probably on slightly affect the matching

Turns out that it was just me not noticing that there were two villages in the clan with the same really odd name, the #1 village and the #15 village. Ugh.
