I just saw this forum yesterday. I soon found out that I was in big trouble.


A long time ago, I wanted to upgrade some of my troops for aesthetics purposes. I rushed in to TH9 to max my Barb, Archers, Giants, Gobs, WB, and Healer. Now they are all maxed out and I've been using this attack strategy for the longest time. I totally forgot to upgrade my other units. Now, I heard that BAM,Balloonions, or Mass Hogs are better attack strategies. I can't pass 2000+ trophies with this set up. Please help.


My units level are the ff.
Balloons (currently upgrading to level 4)
Gobs (max)
Wiz (level 3)
Dragon (max for th9)
Hog (level 2)
Minions (level 1)
others at level 1




BK level 5
AQ level 3




My questions are:
1. What unit should I level up first?
2. Is BAM a good strategy to farm and to reach Masters? If yes, can a level 1 Minion do the job?
3. What other attack strategies should I also try aside from the others mentioned above?
4. I attached pics of my base and upgrades. What should I prioritize moving forward?

You aren't in bad shape. I would hold off on increasing trophies though, and focus on finding a nice farming range to level up the rest of your buildings/troops.

You are not in a terrible shape.

Why do you want to go to Masters. With the troops you have it is going to be very difficult anyway. I would suggest you stay in Gold 1 + C3 range and farm.

Defense wise, focus on wizard towers (plus that last mortar) until they are maxed. Then max CC also. It is useful both in defense and offense.

Offense wise, focus on loons and minions. Loonion is the best attack strategy for TH9 I would say. In between, when you can, max wizards too. Forget about hogs, they are kind of outdated now. Rather spend the DE on heroes.

I think this is more than enough for a start. When you have accomplished this, then yu can start thinking about the other upgrades priorities.

Both balloon and wizard get real big boost when you upgrade them for TH 9 level. I suggest you concentrate on these two while upgrading minion in between.

You're actually not in that bad shape. You're doing a lot better than I was when I was at TH5, but since then I've realized my mistakes and slowed down, spending 4 months at TH7 and catching everything up.

I think that this was a great post and very informative, I will be honest and admit that I am TH10 that is somewhat pre-mature. I had no clue that there were loot penalties when I started playing. Luckily for me I am not even close to being as bad off as some of the bases pictured here! I am actually testing the information in this post on another account, and it appears to be dead on.

I always enjoy good, informative posts that can help us all in the game.

I seriously had no idea about this and like an idiot, spent my personal money on gems. I'd really prefer not to start over because of all the money spent. How bad is it? Any advice is appreciated, I'm quite annoyed at myself right now.

My friend... you almost destroyed your career
luckily you haven't go to TH10. If you do that, you have to reset your game.

you're a premie TH9, it is very cureable and it's not so hard to do
