A 1-week shield lasts one week from when you purchase it. You can not purchase another until after the cooldown.

Cooldown refers to the period before you can buy another shield. You won't be able to buy another 1 week long shield until more than a month has passed
I don't even buy shields. Whenever I have them, I feel the need to break them and raid

Unless I'm going on vacation with no wifi, buying shields is definitely a waste of gems. Just put your TH out and wait for snipers. Guarenteed shield for 12 hours.
no the cool down just means that when u buy one u can't buy another for 35 days
